Arguably, the big 5 of the 80s were the best WWs ever...how today's WW compared in quality and depth in the division...

Benitez? Although he had more fights at 154, I think.

But Hagler was not a WW. And Duran was better at lower weights.

Not even close. Todays WW aside from a prime Pac would be average against the 80's boys.

Prime Jose Luis Lopez would clean up at 147 today and if he actually bothered to train instead of spending camp down at the beach getting high and catching waves it would get real ugly.

I thought the Tito, ODH, Quartey era was pretty solid, especially with Mosely on the way up to welter.

I believe that era would give both the 80s and today's welters a tough run for their money.

Honorable mention to the Mayweather Pacquiao era of 2010

Interesting the 09s had some great boxers that most fought each other:
Tito, ODLH, Sweet Pea, Ike, Oba, Blocker, Vernon, Page, Mosley... Mayorga, Joppy, Vargas....

Would like to point out that a certain Sugar Ray Robinson started at welter, and fought Kid Gavilan there. That would be the best era ever.

Leonard, Hearns, Benitez, and Duran beat all of the current welterweights. These guys are some of the best ever, so it's not a knock on Spence, Crawford, Pacquiao, etc. that they would fall short. A more fair comparison would be Spence and Crawford versus guys like Forrest, Mosley, Quartey, etc.
