Floyd wanted to figth Kostya Tszyu before Zoo even knew who Floyd was and when did he say he wanted no part of Pacquiao?

Also yes, having a size advantage over Floyd is important if you want to work his body.

Agree with most of except example 3, Mosley was in decline and definitely NOT quicker than Floyd in 2010, in fact he was slower. IMO Judah would've been a far better example.

Mayweather is very versatile and can fight in many styles, a legit ATG he is. It would take a great fighter who was fast enough and had a decent punch to give Floyd problems. Pac might be able to trouble him but no one else in this era has a chance.

I saw that after I posted it and wondered if it would be taken out of context. I didn't mean that Mosley was quicker than Floyd, but that he was quicker than the average fighter. Quick in general.

I was going to use the Zab fight as example 4 but it was a ****ed up fight, so I didn't bother.

I would like to see Zab unify then fight Floyd though. That would be a cool fight.

Also, from the above, little more detail:

    Hearns TKO Mayweather

SRL vs. Floyd - great trilogy with controversial scores

Sweet Pea vs. Floyd - Looks more like a dance contest than a fight

    SRR TKO Mayweather

Mayweather SD Duran - Mayweather gets beat up badly but pulls out a decision, then goes on vacation for a long time.

a few ways to beat great defenses are:
variety - fight in stages. floyd starts of using the shoulder roll. straight to the body, followed by a shot up top can have some success initially. once he switches to high guard to counter the body shot, stop throwing straights and throw more hook type punches, low and high.

another way is timing: making him be the aggressor. while floyd is great at all parts of the game, he's best as a defensive fighter, so make him fight a bit more offensively like zab did
also use his defense to your advantage: judges and viewers are easily manipulated. they don't expect you to land cleanly against someone with good defense and will give you credit for landing on arms, shoulders, and thighs just because most fighters don't land much of anything against some one like floyd or hopkins.

Manny has the power to KO Floyd. Judah had the skills to beat Floyd aswell but that is another story for tomorrow.

Gander you make a great point but what I would like to ask you is, why do all of those things if your opponent can't even figure out the shoulder roll. Why go there and expend your energy or show your repertoire?

It doesn't mean that Floyd can't do it. (not saying he can)

He can put together great combos but he doesn't have to.
He can fight using a high guard but he doesn't have to.
He can fight in a south paw stance, but he doesn't have to.

So I just think that you are kind of making him out to be a one dimensional fighter. I know it sucks for people personal preference but if the little bit he does is enough to win by shutouts, why change it?

  11. floyd beat dlh in case you forgot:huh @154 which wasnt a good weight for floyd so dont start with dlh was old he lost all his big fights even when he was young , and hearns gets stopped hes another one that loses most his big fights , everyone always says robinson on this forum because hes an old throwback fighter but people tend to forget that he lost to much lesser opponents then floyd , srl and trinidad are more like welterweights that would have a chane to beat floyd

And Mayweather struggled with lesser fighters than Robinson beat. Plus everyone forgets that Robinson started out at lightweight and only lost to fighters that were natural MIDDLEWEIGHTS or bigger. Not only that, he established himself as one of the best ever at Middleweight. The equivalent of that would be Mayweather establishing himself as one of the greatest junior-middleweights of all time, which he hasn't done. Sugar never lost at Welterweight, and I don't think if the best welterweights of Robinsons era could get it done Mayweather could. Besides, he still has yet to face the other best welterweight of this era, who he is naturally bigger than.

It would have to be someone equally smart and on par with Floyds fighting level and Srr and Srl fit that bill. Their offense, abilities, and IQ was so great they didnt need defense as a first priority like Floyd needs it. The jab would be the least of Floyds worries their speed and power unlike anything hes ever encountered. I think Leonard would atand right in front of him countering the counterpuncher and shoe shining Floyd. The Sugars wouldnt gas out like Oscar and Shane did either. Great offense can beat a great defense, this aint football.

Floyd is a cerebral fighter that studies and then uses his opponents strengths against themselves. Whether its by a great jab or a nonstop pressure attack to not give Floyd space to counter or time to think, I think the best way to beat a master is using an unknown style to him or not fighting the masters fight. Best way to fight a defensive fighter is by using the jab not to score, but lure the fighter in or to come forward out of their defensive cocoon. Once they are unloading their offense they are most vulnerable. Alot of cutting of the ring, bodypunching, etc like Montreal Duran not only puts physical but mental pressure on Floyd and Duran being a brawler that could punch would slow down Floyd bigtime.

Idk about Floyd having best defense ever he didnt fight a legend like Chavez or beasts like Oscar or Tito in their primes like Sweet Pea did, but he does have one of the best.
