Hagler was far more complete than Benny. Marvin was the complete package, more complete than most I've seen so this should not be taken as an insult to poor Benny. Benny was just crude, plain vanilla style that basic folk were able to unserstand while Hagler had a sophisticated style and didn't gain popularity until he became more flatfooted, less mobile. that's what it comes down to. Is he as tough as Hagler? that's debatable but I dont see why he wouldn't be. I only know of one time he didnt make it up in time. That's no crime. He got hit a good shot and was out of it so the ref stopped it. Lot of tough guys get stopped. Ray mancini was stopped 3 times and he was as tough as they come. He outoughed Art Frias, Romero, and Du Koo Kim. Nobody is saying he wasn't tough. Ray Leonard was stopped too but he really wasn't so tough.
Briscoe was more of a fighter/slugger than Marvin who was a boxer/puncher, but Briscoe was a tough competiter although a level or so below Hagler
Up until there i thought for a moment you were actually capable of producing a good post without mentioning the one you dream about all the time.
