I thought Cortez was great, finally someone put an end to Hatton's mauling WWE techniques, and he still gave Hatton a lot of slack, not penalizing him for anything until the 6th round. Let's be honest here, this was a boxing fight not a wrestling match.
yea,cos pbf didnt hold either.pbf used his elbows, shoulders and threw when cortez said break and nothing was done, cortez was pretty damn ridiculous!
PBF did what he had to do to win the fight, FLoyd has best pure skill in the game. He was only retaliating to Hatton's bull**** tactics, he doesnt need to do that stff normally. Have you ever seen a Mayweather fight before, this was probably the ugliest Mayweather fight I have seen since Mayweather-Castillo II or Mayweather-Sosa. But this was a typical Ricky Hatton fight, come in face first, wrestle, punch, clinch, maul, punch. Except this time, Cortez limited the mauling tactics of Hatton, and Hatton got ko'd, if Cortez had been the referee in the Tszyu fight, the same result might have happened (Hatton ko'd).
if you consider the huge reach advantage of mayweather against hatton, you say that the first 2 to 3 rounds was unfair for hatton. hatton will charge into mayweather but cortez breaking it as soon as possible. maybe cortez just don't want this to be a wrestling match but that is hatton's only chance aside from his viscious left-hook. other rounds are quite fair but hatton was clearly out of his game by then. not to discredit the mayweather win though. hatton was simply outclassed.
As Cortez was saying . . . refs should take control of the fights right from the begining or lose control of the whole fight . . . which is very true.
yep. i would prefer mayweather showing his boxing skills than hatton grappling. i just think that the first few rounds, cortez doesn't want some form of inside contact between the two thus sealing hatton's only chance of a win. how could someone expect hatton winning by trading jab's with his puny reach.
