How was Floyd Mayweather Sr. as a fighter?

He was a fairly good fighter. Very fast hands. Go check out his fight with Ray Leonard on youtube. He hands in there for long enough, but in the end, gets ran over by one of the greatest fighters to ever lace um up. No shame in that.

 

he wasn't compared to floyd junior at all but he was a fair fighter.

Yes he was pretty good to.

 

Too bad he had to fight in that era, if he was fighting today he would be one of the top guys.
but i guess that's irrelevant.

 

He looks pretty good in the fight vs Leonard... fast hands, good chin, nice "Mayweather style" skills... seemed to lack power maybe.

His record is pretty unspectacular... no real impressive wins to speak of.
Biggest thing he did was lose to the great Ray Leonard.

Good contender, only had one loss before he fought Leonard, clearly wasn't an A level fighter. When got shot in the leg it hindered his career.

 

I just learned that he's the dad of another boxer named J u s t i n Jones who's 19. I guess they took DNA tests that were positive.

 

If I remember he had very fast hands..

 

Good contender and fast hands but nothing compared to his son.
