Nope, not everyone is "born with it". The amount of people alive who could match Roy-type-speed and combination punching even with training would be far less than 1% of the world's population.
That is very well said. That is exactly how Floyd fights. Combinations with educated pauses interspersed as he calculates in split instants where the next punch should go. He rarely throws a "flash combination".
Genetics, but also timing, fighters like Floyd, Ali, and Jones ect. not only were fast, they had perfect timing. As soon as they saw an opening their reflexes would kick in. It takes alot of skill and training to be able to have that type of timing.
Floyds the opposite of shoe shine guys b/c he literally hates wasting punches. You can see it in his face whenever he misses a shot he looks pissed at himself. He is a firm believer in making every punch count. He is fast as hell all around. But on offense he is focused on accuracy and not volume.
Aaron Pryor, Ray Leonard, Meldrick Taylor, prime Shane Mosley are just a few who impressed me much more than Mayweather in the speed department.
Very true. I think Floyd's greatest gift wasn't so much his speed as his pin point accuracy. He sends them off like guided missles.
I recognize true talent and his abilities in the ring will never be able to be duplicated! theres only one floyd mayweather!
