How was Frazier able to fight most of his career partially blind in one eye?

According to Frazier and Hauser as well, he had fought with one eye since the mid-60s, by the time he fought in Manilla he had been fighting for 10 years like that.

The problem was Joe's good eye was closing because of the shots he was taking, and Joe always had problems with bruising and swelling. Rounds 13 & 14, when Joe wasn't showing no movement like he did earlier in the fight, the shots he was taking were sick!! Nothing but heart kept him upright that night.

Frazier was willing to go out for that 15th round that is a fact, the video proves it, never mind the bravado he said afterwards, Futch made a huge call.

Imagine that fight ending in a draw!! **** me what a way to finish the worlds greatest boxing trilogy!!

 

Harry Greb fought a good portion of his career with one eye, and his other one was going too. He went for surgery to repair the good eye and died on the table.
Pretty much the same thing happened to Tiger Flowers who beat Greb for the middleweight title.
Sam Langford was almost totally blind towards the end of his career. "I punch at the stink" he said.
A contender from Philadelpha, Gypsy Joe Harris fought blind in one eye most of his career too. He memorized the commision doctors eye charts.

 

An accident in training in 1965 injured his eye and he was left with partial sight. As for the Thrilla In Manilla, Frazier disagreed with him but hate is a bit of a strong word. Even as a massive Frazier fan he was absolutely right. Ali would not have quit on his stool, and Frazier was behind on the cards and almost completely blind and taking more and more punishment. Absolutely the right call by Futch and a brave one.

Wow I did not know of this. I have even more respect for this HW great. If this is the case, would he be the greatest handicapped fighter ever?

 

According to people who knew him it wasn't as bad as people are making out. It did get worse not only as he went along in his career, but also as he got bruised up in fights. However lets not make out this man was fighting his whole career with one eye.

People should becareful getting things from documentaries with certain agendas.
