Max Schmeling's comments on Dempsey there are far more interesting than anything anyone here has said on the subject.

    :good

L, I had read the above comments of Max Schmeling in his biography published in Germany years ago...Schmeling knew what he was speaking of, and i have tried to convey the true greatness of Jack Dempsey on ESB
posts with not much success, and have taken a lot of flack...But I am a big boy and console myself with the thought that the great boxing figures like, Max Schmeling, Sam Langford, Ray Arcel, Jack Sharkey, Gene Tunney,
Mickey Walker, Damon Runyon, Hype Igoe, Lou Stillman, and the vast majority of boxing experts who chose Jack Dempsey as the greatest heavyweight of 1900-1950s...So I am in good company...Cheers...

It was a funny post, but I think Pachilles is really a painter decorator or a window fitter/salesman. Something like that, as far as I know.

He's a good guy, enjoy his posts, and he likes DBZ (best fight I've ever seen is Piccolo v Android 17), so God bless him.

clearly it doesnt. if you were black then you'd often not get the opportunity to fight, but a white man of the same or lesser ability got in.

so no it doesnt work both ways in a way thats relevant. There was never a separate heavyweight title called 'the white heavyweight title' to segregate white boxers away from the world crown.

I don't find Schmeling's comments very insightful at all. He seems rather a dolt, though I would like to see these comments in his native tongue. Just another guy claiming things were better in his day. Dime a dozen.

Are you from the UK? Probably wont have heard of us if your from outside the UK.

Our crew was called Blazing Squad, me and bunch of mates from the same area and most from the same school, we were tight back in the day but we're split now. The song you'll probably know is Crossroads, remix of the Bone Thugs song, one of our top inspirations. We just be dreamin' was a big hit too

can you guess which one is me?

Its hard to judge the guy when realistically, i wasnt there to watch him in person.

But he is Tysons idol, so i gotta give him that. And numerous journalists etc have said he was a great fighter. I cant see why they would praise someone whose a bum

In 100 years time, i think Tyson will probably get the same treatment as Dempsey does now.

Youll have some people who believe tyson was the best thing since cooked food and other who say hes overrated and lost to all the best fighters he fought.

Dempsey must have done something right because hes more talked about than any of the other fighters of his era (no disrespect)

DBZ OVERRATED!!!!!! Dragonball was way better but everyone remembers the later stuff, all the greatness was accomplished early even if Goku couldn't do a thing with Willie Meehan, I mean Krillin.

Sounds like a dolt in that passage, my master reading comprehender... Not terribly insightful, mostly just asserting things were better back when.. time was when... In my day... Dime a dozen **** that makes the desparate and gullible misty eyed...
