Odd fact Mark. Going into Leonard 1 in Montreal Duran had as many 1st rd kos as Leonard did knockouts period 18.

No, wiki often only includes partial records in cases like Maher. Also Wikipedia includes bareknuckle fights in fighters records e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_L._Sullivan

Though I think Matt Donnellon said the boxrec record for Maher contain amateur bouts, so the real number may well be lower than the 48 currently on boxrec (which does exclude bareknuckle fights, but some slip through)

Speed, accuracy and power. And perhaps the greatest ability of any fighter to scare his opponent shitless. I rewatched the Berbich fight the other day and was struck by how out of sorts Trevor was. Beaten before the bell rung. Not that Mike needed intimidation to beat him, but still...

What other cases in boxing history have there been when a veteran like Berbick is so psyched out by a 20-year old that really hasn't beaten a high quality opponent yet? Liston and Foreman was intimidating, yes, and probably Dempsey in his day, but I don't think I've ever seen anything like Tyson. Even Holmes seemed unnerved by him.

Wiki has stated Dempsey had 20 1st round KO`s to his name.

He had incredible power and he usually landed early, so his opponent would either absorb his big punches or was knocked out.

Well the question was how Tyson able to knockout so many strong (I'll add bigger) opponents. Not who has more ko's.

No offense but Tyson didn't have the best of opposition. The best he had was Spinks who was pissing his pants and an overweight past prime Holmes

I feel Tucker was better than Spinks, his height and reach would have been too much for Spinks and he took a great shot, he also beat Douglas.

Spinks was not that great of a heavyweight... he beat an eroded Holmes who lost much of his snap and legs... many other fighters at heavy were better than the Spinks who fought Tyson... Ruddock, Douglas, Bruno, Tucker, Thomas... I think all of these guys beat that Jinx who showed up

I think Spinks was too clever for Bruno and the punch he knocked Cooney out with would have stopped Frank also.
