On some instances of being cornered, Maravilla still stood in the pocket and traded punches. In the early-to-mid rounds, he was doing well on the inside with his fast hands. Anyone want to comment on his inside fighting? Were you surprised by him staying on the ring sometimes?

It wasn't really inside fighting. Chavez Jr still gave him enough space to let his mid range shots go. Chavez simply didn't do anything on the inside.

Maravilla has done some nice work in the pocket before, most notably in the first fight with Williams.

He isn't a good in-fighter, if he fought someone like Ward, this would be exposed quite clearly.

Nothing special. What's special is how he knows how to avoid inside fighting.

I thought it was pretty good too. Its obviously not where he needs to be fighting guys but I was impressed with his ability to back Chavez up when he had to fight off the ropes.

Decent uppercuts and some good weaving and blocking, but that's it. Very nice movement to avoid in-fighting, though.

Mayweather or Ward would beat him on the inside rather comfortably.
