My experience is fighters tend to get moody — and some very hostile and dark — as they get close to a fight. They pretty much have to: they’re getting in the ring with someone who is going to try to take their head off and anything that distracts them even a little can set off that anxiety.

Moorer followed the Tyson template for disparaging remarks and creating a buzz by saying crude things. And of course the tabloids took some of it out of proportion...some of the time.

Moorer didn't hold back about his love for horror movies and would describe gory and horrific death scenes from classics like FRIDAY THE 13TH to journalists. My kinda fighter!!

I can recall that when he was light heavyweight champion and on his long knockout streak, the boxing magazines like Ring and KO would often picture him with guns and make him out to be this violence obsessed cold ruthless killer in the ring..

I think Moore was pretty dark and melancholic by nature. Maybe he would have made more money if he allowed himself to be marketed better and did the George Foreman/Sugar Ray Leonard kind of schtick. He was one of the greatest light heavyweights and a very good heavyweight. As so many of said he was only a few rounds away from beating Foreman. Sad he blew through all his money...

My man!! Horror, pro wrestling and boxing are the 3 links to my childhood. I'm a fan of anything and everything horror, especially the slasher sub-genre that took over in the late 70's and early 80's.

HALLOWEEN...FRIDAY THE 13TH...A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET...HELLRAISER...THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE... BLACK CHRISTMAS...THE THING...EVIL DEAD...DAWN OF THE DEAD...DAY OF THE DEAD...RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD...

Bro have you seen HEREDITARY? That director, Ari Aster, knows a little something about the occult doesn't he?! What about MANDY? Talk to me...

A scary light heavy he was, I remember him being portrayed as a killer there. As a blown up heavyweight? He did well to beat Holyfield but it was obvious he wasn't going to be crowned long.

As a light heavyweight, he never faced Hill, Williams, Harding or Andries. As a heavyweight, he never faced Bowe, Lewis or Tyson.

Not everything is due to mental illness. Some folks are just DBs.

How do think he would have done had he fought those guys? I think he beats all of the lightheavyweight's but loses to all three of those heavyweights you listed.

I do know that Lewis's management did not want him fighting southpaws. If you look at his record, it's pretty obvious he wanted know part of them. I still think Lewis would beat him though.

Could he have defeated those light heavies? Maybe. Would he have beaten them? We'll never know. His only quality fight at 175 was against Leslie Stewart who was already over the hill.

As far as the heavyweights, he had a solid punch - so of course he had a chance. But I don't think he had enough chin to handle their power.

I didn't say I know for a fact he was bipolar, I just said it sounds like he has some of the symptoms and that I wouldn't be shocked. I have an ex who had the condition, coworkers, and I once worked as a home health aid working around bipolar patients so I'm fairly familiar with some of the signs.

And having a mental condition doesn't completely excuse horrible behavior either. I wasn't trying to suggest that. There are many people with mental health issues that go on to have very happy marriages, run successful businesses, etc so that isn't a valid crutch anyway.

I’ve seen all the ones you mentioned except hereditary, I’ve actually never heard of that. Texas chainsaws were always my favorites though, I also really like the saw franchise. Evil dead creeped me tf out, only horror movie that really scared me as a kid

He tended to play the role of the bad guy, in the run up to fights.

Hereditary is like the new age Exorcist. It will leave you feeling uncomfortable, no doubt. A breath of fresh air from all the garbage horror flooding the big screen this decade.

The first three TCM's were great, and the remake. But the original stands with Halloween and The Exorcist as the 3 greatest horror movies ever made. Something about those 70's film directors like John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Wes Craven, Dario Argento...
