Mainly because Bruno wasn't all that good, even compared to the alphabet champions of the 80s.

There might also have been a stylistic issue.

Frank was a jab and right hander with no inside game. You needed to be a good inside gamer to be in with a chance of beating prime Mike.

Brunos fear was quite evident in the second fight.

The first one he actually gave it a real good go even hurting mike a couple of times.

Who can ever forget the late Harry Carpenter screaming in to his mic after frank rocked mike in the opener.

"GET IN THERE FRANK", sent shivers down my spine at the time!!

A young Lewis even made better than Tyson in one only bout imo

Weak chined out fighters who lack fight controlling jab, defense, and the ability to tie smaller swarming type of fighter with a punch are just bad match -ups.

Bruno has other issues and hired a sports psychologist to overcome them.

Tyson didn`t look as good as he did in his prime, the head movement the combo`s layering his offense he used his jab less didn`t throw as many body punches, his skill level was extreme around the time of the Spinks fight, you could see that.

Lewis struggled badly v Bruno and was behind on two of the judges score cards when he landed the hook that put Frank in trouble plus he took 8 rounds and got hit far more than Tyson did v Frank.

Who could forget the rematch. After a couple of easy fights the proclamations were everywhere - Tyson is back!!!!! It was considered a mere formality that he would reclaim his other two titles. More powerful than ever. He'd absolutely crushed a world class opponent.

Holyfield was talked about as if he didn't overly deserve a fight with him. Tyson was already seen as the divisions savior and the top heavyweight in the world.

    The New York Times -

--Holyfield. His planned fight against Tyson was talked about as the matchup of the decade. But that was at the start of the decade, before incarceration for three years on a **** conviction put an abrupt hold on Tyson’s career.

Tyson is back, but it might be too late for Holyfield. After losing to Bowe, Holyfield returns to the ring next month at Madison Square Garden against Bobby Czyz, a true cruiserweight or light-heavyweight. Hardly the opponent to prepare one for Tyson.

Still, with all the uncertainty muddling the heavyweight division, two facts remain clear: Everybody out there wants to fight Tyson. And nobody out there appears capable of beating him.

Amusing in hindsight. Tends to magnify what Holy did even more.

Just because he was behind that he made better than Tyson. That KOT was one of the most remarkable masterpieces of Lewis in his legendary career.

Agreed. A solemn and monumental backfiring by Lewis.

They were wrong and Tyson looked awful v Mathis and Holy was coming off a knockout loss to Bowe, there was also talk that he had a whole in his heart which was effecting his stamina, people were saying that was the reason for his lethargic display in his first bout to Moorer.
