I have both comfortably behind him.

The difference, probably, is that you stress head to head and what Vitali Klitschko does against him at boxing in your head.

Janitor and I will be using data which exists in the real world to compare their achievements in the relative eras regardless of our unproven opinions as to their boxing ability.

You are right, I also take into account H2H, but for me also the main criteria is achievements.

Well Langford has wins over heavyweights form the early 1900s who belong on the top 40 all time list.

    Vitali certainly doesn't.

Langford beat all the best heavyweights he met.

Vitlai lost to the two best heavyweight he met (And the only guys he met in contention for the top 50).

Vitali made my top 30 because he was very, very dominant but he clearly me the very worst opposition in my top thirty. By great distance. He's a punt, essentially. Having him above Sam Langford but claiming to care about their achievements is odd.

I didn't have Sanders in my top fifty, but do you think he isn't in contention for it? I don't think it's outrageous to have him there.

I can't be arsed repeating the exercise and because he isn't within the 100 I dont' have detailed data on the why, but i'm absolutely sure it'll be eminently justifiable.

He sits with guys like Kid McCoy, Greg Page, Tommy Morrison, Jack Dillon, Lou Nova, Young Stribling, Ruslan Chagaev, Johnny Risko, Tony Galento, Tony Tubbs, Lamon Brewster, Bonecrusher Smith, Jake Kilrain, Clarence Henry, Lee Q Murray, Frank Slavin...not quite enough to make the 100.

130 years of boxing, after all, is rather a lot.

It depends on the criteria you use to rank them.

I feel that I need to give some clarification as to why I rate Harry Wills very highly.

Harry Wills started beating top contenders in 1914, he was still doing it in 1925, and he was never very far from the top of the pile anywhere between.

He was beating men like Sam Langford (then the top contender) in 1914, and he was winning title eliminators against men Like Luis Firpo in 1924.

Between the beginning of 1914, and him losing to Jack Sharkey in 1926, he went 73-6-5.

In terms of number of world class fighters beaten, he probably falls into the same category as Larry Holmes.

His resume has everything except the title, and he was never given the chance to fight for it.

Had he been given a shot, in say, 1920 or 1921, and beaten Jack Dempsey in a convincing manner, where would you rate him?
