How were fighters credited for knockdowns before the 10 Point Must System?

    Didn't Marciano and the boys used to fight Round by Round scoring system?

    Pretty much. It was a lot different in those days, since it wasn't uncommon to have the referee be the only judge in fights in those days. Also, knockdowns didn't carry the same weight that they do today.

    In this fight with Joe Frazier vs. Joe Bugner you can see the Referee immediately raise Frazier's hand since he was the sole judge.
