Cotto dispelled the myth that Shane only lost to bigger fighters. Also showed adaptabilty didnt think he had, and Shane was on a decent win streak over awkward Collazo and a couple of stoppages of Vargas (with a couple of others I cant remember) and fighting a couple of times a year as opposed to not in 16 or so months. Floyd did a good job on him and probably woulda done a similar job earlier in thier respective careers (maybe not LW) THEN the win woulda carried more nouse

I think Cotto's win over Shane is better, because he was facing an opponent who's style was probably his worst nightmare and he overcame the obstacle.

Shane punches harder than Margarito, takes almost as good a punch as Margarito and is just all round better (as he proved :yep)

Maybe that fight took plenty out of Cotto, because we saw him in with a journeyman in his next fight...... when they showcased him and Margarito on the same bill - think that was the 2nd Cintron fight?

What Mayweather did was impressive, but Mosley always needed to be active, look at him struggling with old-ass Mayorga who was also inactive. Even taking into account the size disadvantage Mosley ought to have either schooled the guy or got him out of these mid-rounds as Oscar did. A last gasp KO when behind (on my card) wasn't really the goods.

I'm looking forward to the Pacquiao fight actually for some reason, even though all logic points to Mosley being beaten up and pulled by Richardson in the late rounds.

Mayweather should be ranked up there with the best ever.starting st super feather floyd beat the number 1 ranked fighter in each weight up 2 light middle.people seem 2 forget floyd was a super feather and jumped 5 weights winning the wbc title in each weight.and the mannor of the way he beat fighters was a privalege 2 c.he beat oscar at oscars natural weight, when no 1 give him a chance.corrales, castillo, gatti, hatton, zab judah, marquez mosley will all be remembered as good if not great fighters and floyd schooled them all.People might not like him 4 the way he is but no 1 can take away what he done in boxing.undefeated 41-0 5 weight world champ.highest earning ppv fighter outside of heavyweight division.people always say he dodged cotto margarito and pacqauio, seeing how manny took care of margarito and cotto im sure floyd would of had a walk in the park.yeah manny v floyd would be a great fight, but if u know boxing u must understand styles makes fight and mannys wide swinging easy to be hit style wouldnt be so hard for floyd mayweather.

Im going to bring it back to the debate as i havent contributed yet.

I think everybody agrees that Mayweather has the skills boxing ability he is up there with the greats. Its his resume that has the ? over it.

I think the hardest part to try and judge is that Mayweather does have a good resume but not a great resume. The problem is he is undefeated and whilst we dont put stock into the 0 too much its hard to dispel the idea that he cant be beaten by anybody in his weight categories.

The next problem lies with the fact that whilst he would be a betting favourite in a Cotto/Margarito match if it came off he never actually made the fights to prove. He needed to flesh out his legacy at WW there aren't many top fighters around he doesnt have Duran Hearns Leonard so to give his resume added credibility he needs to beat a few very good fighters. This coupled with a win over Manny would surely have ensured his entry into the top end of ATG lists. Does a possible win over Manny still ensure this? I think so but could definitely do with more names at WW on his record.

I think as times go by people will give Floyd credit for his skills and for a good resume and as a result will probably be given kudos for that whereas RJJ was gifted and a top fighter and he has so great wins Toney, BHOP he also has a fair bit of padding whereas Floyd has a more consistent but in some places less impressive record

I think while his overall career is exceptional his, stint at WW is average. My ranking would depend mostly on how much I rated the achievements at 130 and 135 rather than 140-147. You can regard the latter stuff as "icing on the cake" if you are feeling charitable or as a bit lacklustre if you want to criticize.

Good post but, and I'm repeating myself here, Castillo beat him for me first time. Definitely. So I have no illusions about Floyd's invincibility... and don't put too much store on the 0.

It's about what you do, not what you don't (i.e. lose).
