The list of ''have nots'' in Floyd's 140+ career are far greater than the ''haves''.

He wanted nothing to do with Shane after he came back to 147 after the Vargas fights, he bumbled like an idiot when asked if he'd fight Margarito and then said ''I don't need to prove who the best is'' when asked if he'd fight Cotto.

Even leaving Pacquiao aside, look at Mosley - he fought Forrest and Wright twice each, two wins over a prime DLH - who also fought almost everyone noteworthy.

Hopkins is still fighting and beating top quality opponents well into his 40's.

Marquez, Barrera and Morales have all fought everyone too.

Pacquiao and Margorito the only fighters you can accuse him of not fighting in my opinion

After Floyd beat Ricky, he and Cotto, welterweight titlists and both undefeated, was the fight everyone wanted to see. P-Dub had beaten Margo, Cotto had showed another facet to his game against Mosley (which IMO is a better win than Floyds win over Shane) and looked to be able to bring a few things to the table against Floyd.

Sad thing is, if Floyd jumped up to 154 now and beat this version of Cotto it would still be one of his best wins.

Perhaps. By the time Mayweather had established himself at 140 Tysuzu has been beaten.

I agree if he went and beat Cotto at 154lbs he would be up there with his best wins but he would get slated for fighting a guy Pacquiao has beat.

He did want the Cotto unification at 140lbs but I agree it should have happend after the Hatton fight. As I said before its not just Floyds fault the fight with Arum fighters has not happend but your right its a name missing from Floyds resume.

Like I have said, just appreciate him for what he has done and not what he hasn't. Where you rank him or whether you think he is a great fighter is up to you.

I would put every penny I have that if they made a legendary night series again a Mayweather fight would be included...but your right.

This thread only highlights the need for Mayweather to fight Pacquiao, within the next 12 months.

Rob, I aint getting at you mush, sorry if it seems I am. It's the common perception of Floyds 'astounding ability' that is my main gripe. He looks sensational but has never faced a style that could give his fits (or if he has he has faced that fighter when they are not at their best) and again I must stress I don't think Floyd has done anything wring; it's his career, not mine :good

A lot of people hold this notion of Floyd. I don't see why so many people are willing to give him a free pass to be honest.

Also, people say 'he makes it look easy because he is so good'. Certain fights wouldve forced him to look a bit more ragged but summon something else. Needing to make adjustments against a fighter as one dimensional as Mosley (and he has always been a hmstraight forward fighter, which is what a lot of Floyds best wins are) makes me question Floyd more than validating these 'amazing adjustments' he can make. Same goes for Judah, I know he's good for a few rounds and class but if Floyd is as good as people claim him to be he wouldve done better jobs on some of the fighters he's faced. People think coasting equals greatness, former greats used to solidify their lofty positions by blowing inferior opposition away.

It made me cringe when after the Nosley fight everyone basically said 'we can forgive him for everything he's done before, this guy is unbelievable'. Styles do indeed make fights, but so do levels. People act is if, technically, Floyd is on another level to most. I really don't agree, although he clearly has some phenomenal attributes and has built a stellar, if not mind-blowing ring record across his career :good

Oh, and Rob, as I was saying, if Cotto at this point in time would be regarded as one of his best wins that is another fact towards his resume being sub-par. That is the point I was trying to make mate :good

he didn't look too sensational against Castillo, Judah (for four rounds, in fairness - after that he drubbed Zab) or Oscar. In fact, he look pretty pedestrian against Castillo even in the second fight.

Could you imagine someone like Pernell Whitaker having any bother with Castillo at 135?
