It's going to be VERY hostile in the Nottingham Arena on Saturday night. I would say it takes a very special person not to be affected by such a hostile crowd in any way. Will Andre be affected before he even steps ion the ring? Certainly Carl Froch was affected by the crowd in Connecticut v Taylor, and that crowd was NOWHERE NEAR as hostile towards him as will the Nottingham crowd be towards Dirrell.
once the fight starts fighters dont notice the crowd anyway. its not like a home game in football. not really.
Ive been saying this for a while, but ALOT of people have been discrediting my claim! To those who follow the usual verbatim of "they wont be in the ring with them" I say this. Put yourself in a boxers situation. You're walking out of the tunnel, you have loads of booing, probably people are shouting all sorts at you, probably some of which will be personal. I refuse to believe it will have a long term effect on a fight, but for the first one or two rounds it will be very important. A nervy start is likely from Andre, and an andrenaline fueled full on start from Froch.
Pascal seemed like a real cool cat, focussed as **** and even he looked shaken by the crowd. I was there live and I never seen anything like it. 9000 people chanting WHO THE **** ARE YOU is enough to rattle anyone.
Yes, I was there to and Pascal was definately affected Even the ultra confident Froch looked a little shakey and nervous walking to the ring in Connecticut and that crowd was no where near as hostile as the Nottingham crowd will be
I think a crowd like the one in Nottingham (and the UK in general) plays right into Froch's hands. You know they are going to go crazy with every aggressive flurry, and that is going to cause Dirrell to trade a lot more than I think he should, and that he actually wants to. In contrast to bad intentions I think home advantage is every bit as important in boxing as it is in every other sport. There are some seriously intimidating atmosphere's out there!!! I'm calling Ward Vs Kessler 50/50 at the moment....had it been in Copenhagen, I'd call it 75/25 for Kessler.
If Froch comes steaming in like he did in the 1at round against Pascal it's gonna be a very short night for Dirrell :deal
I think he was probably nervous because of the occasion more than anything, to be honest. He looked very tense even as he was coming out of his dressing room. Pascal seemed very relaxed.
:good That's for sure. If Froch rushes him Dirrell will look like this :yikes I can see Froch doing everything possible to throw Dirrell off his game. Dirrell is going to need to keep a real cool head on him to survive the early rounds.
i never got affected by the crowd when i was fighting. if anything fighting infront of a hostile crowd gives you more resolve. but as the home fighter it can give you an adrenaline rush and make you 'sharper' early on.
Did you fight infront of 10,000 people? A few hundred cant make much nosie and will be relatviely quiet. They dont want to make a scene and arent really that bothered about a local promotion. This is a world title fight, the start of a fantatsic tournament where the promoters have used nationalism as part of the promotion. The English are very nationalistic, and use it as a uniting factor. Wait until you hear it on Saturday!
