Am i the only who thinks it will decrease Guzman's speed?? Plus, he wasn't a big puncher since 122 so i don't think that even with those extra pounds, he has the kind of power to KO someone at lightweight, especially when that person is as determined as Campbell. So if that affects his speed like I mentioned earlier, i think he his in for big trouble since that was his main advantage over Nate. Ethier way i hope Guzman gets the ass whopping he deserves. Not just because of this weight issue but because of his bull**** fans who claims he is the best in his weight range while he did nothing....
His power will not be critical in the fight anyway, I think. I think his stamina will be affected most. Particularly late on, Campbell should have an advantage. Guzman might have to get on his bike again.
This was what one boxing writer for Boxing Monthly thought after initially picking Guzman by close decision prior to the weigh in. With Guzman failing to make 135 pounds and apparently unable to shift the excess weight, complicates the issue. When Jose Luis Castillo failed to make weight for his rematch with Diego Corrales, the British boxing writer Claude Abrams told me: "This invalidates all predictions." For my many sporting readers who have wagered on the fight, their bets are, of course, not invalidated. If Guzman comes into the ring less than 100 per cent physically, if he fades as the fight progresses, he is going to be in deep trouble and could get knocked out. This is a guessing game, though. On Friday night my guess was that Guzman packed on muscle with his new strength coach and has actually outgrown the 135-pound division. Now a source at Biloxi, who did not wish to be quoted, tells me that Guzman was stuck at the 138-pound mark for three days and struggled to lose the weight, but it just would not come off his body had no more weight to lose. Apparently Guzman was feeling fine on Saturday morning after a good night's rest and having replenished his system, but his camp is upset and unhappy about the turn of events. The prediction as of Saturday morning in light of the changed circumstances: Campbell to win.
Maybe it doesn't mean **** to you behind that computer but to real fighters it means a lot, even to the majority of the public.
In Corrales-Castillo 2, Castillo came in overweight and seemed to be the stronger fighter. He won by KO in the 4th round. Guzman is favored to win the fight, but I think Campbell can pull it off. Personally, I would have prefered to see Campbell-Casamayor 2.
