Looks highly likely this fight is gonna happen in the spring. So great news there. Now, Haye has said he'd need to fight Wlad like Mike Tyson ie be very fast and aggressive and get on the inside of that big long jab. Makes sense doesnt it. However Haye doesnt and never has fought like Mike Tyson and I dont see him starting now. So whaddya think is gonna be his approach in this fight?? Will it be to run like he did against SNV??? Or will he be more agressive and take the fight right to Wlad...maybe something more like he was in much of his career to date and against Ruiz? I hope its the latter but suspect the former will be the case. He was pretty fearful of mixing it with SNV...and Wlad is better in every way. Faster, more skilled and punches noticably harder. Its hard for me to see Haye fighting brave in this but I hope I'm wrong. If at all possible try n keep to the topic and answer one or the other and keep the childish hate comments out. (who am I kidding asking that on here? atsch) Option 3 really is a joke option!
He's going to fight like he did vs Valuev. Why wouldn't he? he doesn't have the chin to barge in and try to KO Wlad, nor the inside fighting ability.
Amateur difficulty on Fight Night Champion. In all seriousness though, Haye will most likely do something similar to option 2, but he will need to increase his punch output if he does.
He'll look to make Wlad set his feet and punch, counter him, until he lands something big and then he'll launch a two fisted attack. If Wlad recovers, he may abandon his gameplan by backing up and trying to avoid punishment. Considering Wlad can't punch accurately on the move nor has shown much counterpunching aptitude, Haye will eventually find a spot and swarm him. Wlad gets knocked out either way.
I think he will try a few different things. He will try to stay out of range and to lunge in. If he gets in he will try to flurry. He will then try to clinch and rabbit punch. However this will end up with him eating a lot of shots and finding that he is a lot weaker that Wlad in a clinch, who will wrap him up and tire him out. I figure that he will stop trying this by round 3, then he will just try to lunge in and then try to get out immediately. However, when he gets into range he will be picked off by perfectly timed jabs and straight rights. By about round 5 he will be just trying to survive. He will be running, and may try to get through with a lunging attack once or twice a round. By round 7 or so he is a dead duck, and gets KTFO in an unanswered barrage of punches.
People are going to be shocked when they find out that Wlad has no answer for Haye's lateral mobility and counterpunching ability.
I voted that this fight won't happen. But........ If Haye dares to get it on with Wlad, he's gonna reckon real fast that he aint no Corrie Sanders, and that he overestimated his punching power. Then he's gonna reckon real fast that he's no Sam Peter and he has overestimated his chin. Then he's gonna reckon real fast that he needs medical attention stat! EARLY!
That's very true. Wlad has no answer for that. Well aside form his all purpose answer of clinching. The problem is Haye's durability, or lack thereof. If Haye had a decent chin, I'd pick him to win easily, because Wlad is completely clueless when it comes to angles. But even as inept as Wlad is with angles he still has pretty quick hands and enough power to put Haye down. While neither of these guys have good chins, I think Wlad can hurt Haye easier than Haye can hurt Wlad. It's a fight where Wlad has some room to make mistakes, whereas Haye does not. Haye is still defiantly the underdog here.
Some people might be surprised when slow motion photos of Haye's face in the 2nd row are posted on this forum after the fight. Seriously, I'd be impressed if Haye can outhustle, outbox, outsmart and outpunch Wlad to a victory.
I hope this happens.. It would be a breath of fresh air for the heavyweight division... but it won't man :-(
