i would like to think a true champion who took on all challenges from near and far and from a different cloth to his peers. A world class fighter with different attributes to your normal world class fighters.
A proper fighter by every sense of the word but proper. A British warrior who is happy to go at it with anyone.
:deal :deal I cannot understand any one that doesn't like Froch now. He may talk alot but he's sorta guy that lays it all on line and willing to back all that talk up. So far he's pretty much done that...don't care how he does it as long as that job gets done.
See him as the sort of fighter people will rediscover a few decades away, through connecting fighters like Taylor and Kessler. Never will reach the status he deserves in this time.
I need to see the end-game before i can comment. He'll always be someone I'll remember with fondness as it is - a real throwback warrior who made the best of his attributes. But the casuals won't be on-board. If he beats Johnson and Ward (if the latter beats AA), then he goes down as one of the best that Britain has ever produced. If he goes on to campaign at LHW after and has success (maybe beat Bute at SMW on the way), then he cracks the vault as far as I'm concerned. He needs more media exposure though, whatever happens.
How close is he to Calzaghe at the moment btw? I suppose the close Kessler loss leaves him a bit short, and Joe has that big late career win over Hopkins, which keeps looking better and better with each passing B-Hop performance.
A guy who did the best with what he had. Willing to fight in his opponents backyard, heart of a lion. And with a little luck, the man who stepped out of Calzaghes shadow.
***in will, sadly,be largely forgotten by the general public, who never got the opportunity to see him regularly on terrestrial tv,somewhat like joe calzaghe.also, whilst he will always be admired and respected by the boxing fraternity,it has to be said that his style wasn't always particularly pleasing on the eye, despite the fact he never dodged anybody in his division.ever.take note, david haye.
