For someone pegged as the new Sugar Ray Robinson early in his career, he certainly isn't thought of very highly today, or so it seems. Steroid backlash, bad luck... What? How was he viewed before his defeats to Wright and Forrest? Is it hard to judge him currently when the hype previously was so huge?
I personally think Mosley is a first ballot hall of famer. May be wrong but doesn't he have a great reputation?
Very talented boxer who while a first or second ballet Hall of Famer, did not live up to expatitions. I have heard a lot of good things about Shane Mosely as a person outside the ring but the starroids thing defently hurts his repatution. Th first name to pop in to my head as a comparesion was Donald Curry who while a very talented boxer did not live up to expations.
Don´t know about the steroid thing. Was it ever proven and if it hurts Mosley than it should also effect Holyfield, Toney and Jones.
We live in a world where steroid use dose not need to be proven. I don't think Barry Bonds ever failed a drug test.
Who´s Barry Bonds? Is he related to James Bond? Where I come presumption of innocance is one of the most important rules when it comes to judge somebody. And I think rightly so.
Was he sentenced? Was he cought? Is there any clear evidence? If not and you still judge him than Lance Armstrong and Michael Phelps are/were also using doping.
Mosley was called to testify in court. It is not known what he said, but BALCO was a Roids lab. The owner went to prison. A few X BALCO clinets have been busted with RIOIDS. Too much smoke here. I tend to doubt Mosley, who was ripped and looked noticably different after BALCO closed down was 100% clean. Do I know for sure? No. Do I think he used BALCO to get an unfair edge? Yeah. I still think he was a great HOF fighter though.
It doesn´t matter what somebody thinks, it only matters what is fact. And he was never sentenced or anything. I´m too thinking 2/3rd of the olympic athletes are doping but till proven otherwise I won´t knock any of them.
i think the comparesion to Curry is a good one both were pfp best at one point but after theyre first loss they were never the same but they still acomplished enough to be in the HOF. but they shouldve been more.
As a very ,very good fighter who fought everyone ,but ultimately failed to live up to the unreaslistic predictions offered on his behalf.
A superb fighter at 135 who cared his magnificent talent through the weights to continued success, with an unfortunate stain on his career after the BALCO saga.
I'm not really sure i'd call it an "unfair" edge, though. If you believe he used steroids, fine. But remember that he never failed a steroid test. So what does that mean? His opponents, who didn't fail a steroid test either, probably were on them as well. If you think someone whose only goal is to win is going to let something that will give him an advantage without repercussions slip away from him, think again.
