Nah, it's closer than that. AJ is in no form as devastating as Tyson was in his rampage, and Wlad is not as shot as Holmes was.

Definitely strong parallels here, but Wlad has a much better chance than Holmes did.

I think the key difference is Wlads punching power and the fact that AJ can clearly be hurt. All that aside I strongly favor AJ here, but a Klitschko win certainly wouldn't be a shocker.

if joshua loses he should get back in the ring as soon as possible .
to many fighters lose today and are not seen again for a year.
very hard to win every fight and be at your best all the time.
learn from a mistake or a defeat and move on.
with the 0 being so important today it is seen as more important than it actually is.
have a long career and fight good comp and you have loses.
look at old time fighters / even atg had losses on there resume before they became world champs.

Joshua can take a loss here, even a bad one and rebuild from it... This is it for Wlad though.

Wlad is not as "shot" as Holmes?

Look at Holmes' last fight before facing Mike Tyson (which Holmes arguably won) and Wlad's last fight before facing Joshua (Wlad didn't come close to winning against Fury).

Don't let Wlad's muscles fool you. Holmes had plenty left when he fought Mike Tyson. He just got steamrolled. I expect the same thing to happen to Wlad. It wouldn't be the first time for Wlad, after all. It WAS the ONLY time it happened to Holmes.

Based on Wlad's last performance before facing Joshua, and Holmes' last performance before facing Tyson ... I don't agree.

Wlad will be ripped physically until he's 60 years old. But, as a fighter, I think Holmes had more left in 1988 and onward than Wlad has now.

I don't see Wlad being competitive against top heavyweights for another 15 years or so ... like Holmes was from 1988 on.

Well, there's only one way to be sure ... watch the fight ;) Holmes always had a nasty disposition, which is one of the reasons he was effective as a fighter. Wlad may be "shot" mentally. I guess we'll see.

Like I said, there are parallels.... On paper this definitely looks like the current generation equivalent of Tyson/Holmes and it probably is. But it's nowhere near as hopeless for Wlad as it was for Holmes going in. Joshua doesn't have the aura of invincibility that a prime Tyson had. The odds will definitely reflect that.. Joshua won't be anywhere near an 8-1 favorite. Not even with British casuals betting the house on him....

I think he will be like Bruno, start losing fights before he gets in the ring.

Did Holmes have the power that Wlad possesses? The discrepancy here is age, which will probably be a major factor. Holmes was outgunned and against a much younger and hungrier man, for that reason this isn't nearly as hopeless for Klitschko. Joshua still has to be weary of the old dog, because he has not only the skill but also the power to put him down for the count.

I think Joshua actually does have that aura. He certainly does on the night of his fights.

Who is picking anyone to beat Joshua at this point? Seriously.

I haven't heard anyone seriously say ... "Well, this guy or that guy is going to beat Joshua's @ss."

Joshua is the favorite to beat everyone out there right now. Unless I'm missing someone.

I don't deny that... But he doesn't have the same one that Iron Mike did in the 80s.

Wlad hasn't knocked anyone out in three years. If he couldn't knock out Bryant Jennings, he isn't knocking out Joshua. That's for sure.

Wlad and Holmes are quite comparable here. Both coming off long layoffs, both coming off losing their titles and both seemingly in the twilight of their careers. Holmes might have actually had more left in the tank than Wlad, as he came back years later and was a respectable contender. I can't see Wlad carrying on for another 4-5 years.
