i'll always remember him as the guy who got beaten by hatton and helped hatton achieve world wide recognition

That's a fine way to assess a guy's whole career, talent and achievements.

I would rate Tito higher then those other names his resume is better and dominated two weights.

En route to this "domination" of welterweight, he was clearly outboxed by De La Hoya and never fought Quartey or Mosley.

He was the best of the bunch from his era. Difficult to dispute the greatness of a guy who has wins from Roger Mayweather, to JCC (Even old), Mitchell x2, Ruelas, Judah (Impressively), Tackie...

To say he's nothing special is ignoring a solid career of weeding out a marquee list of almost greats and slightly grizzled HOFers. To sum him up in a loss to Hatton is nearly unfair as assessing JCC based on his performances against Tzsyu and DLH.

I think he'll be remembered as one of the greats of his era.

There isn't a case that can be made that would put him in that class.

How many of these fighters would you back Kostya to beat at 140 h2h:

    Cervantes
    Locche
    Benitez
    Whitaker
    Chavez
    Pryor
    Duran*
    Arguello*
    Mayweather
    De La Hoya
    Hatton

(I know Duran & Arguello never really had lww careers, but they were at that weight in their careers, so this is an h2h question)

I think the only ones he'd beat are Hatton and maybe Cervantes. Slim chance against De La Hoya and Locche. I wouldn't favour him over any of the others. I definitely wouldn't give him much of a chance against peak Whitaker, Duran, Pryor, Benitez, Chavez, or even Mayweather. The Arguello of the 1st Pryor fight would beat Kostya too IMO.

Great fighter who cleaned out and unified his divison. Its just a shame he didnt get more "superfights" vs the likes of Mosley or DLH. He was pretty small though and prolly didnt have the frame to move up in weight to chase big names.

How? The guy was a solid 140 lbs champ and deserves to be ranked highly all time in that division based on his dominance over the competition there at the time, but his resume over all isn't that spectacular. You can't rank a guy whose best wins are over Judah and Mitchell top 25 all time. It's ridiculous. Tszyu was a good champ, but resume doesn't qualify him as a top P4P ATG.
