He makes a fair point sorry. But we saw what Happened in the PBF fight in the USA were Hatton was not aloud to Hold and use rough house tactics. If it came down to boxing like that Tszyu would tear Hatton a new ******* in his Prime. Sorry but its true. anyone that thinks different doesnt know the game. For Hatton to win that night he needed everything to go his way which it did. Do you want me to name things that played all parts in Hatton winning. 1. Ref-allowing Hatton to punch inside and hit while them holding but as soon as Tszyu started getting the upper hand the Ref would break them up. 2. Ref-The low blow a blatant foul and some fights have been stopped on such blatant shots to the nuts yet no points were deducted. 3. Age-Tszyu was 35 years and 10 months the time of the fight. 4. Place- The fight was in Manchester and the crowd was all Hatton. 5. The fight-They started the fight at 2am in the morning were Tszyu being close to 36 years old and Hatton being 28 years old this had to play a part. 6. The Knockdown-Now this was a joke Tszyu with a shot just above the belt line hatton goes down yet the Ref calls it a low shot. That shot could have got Tszyu in killer mode. All these things played parts in the Hatton win. I will say this you hold that fight in Tszyu's Prime in the USA and you can say night night Ricky.
One of the great at Light Welterweight and a true legend, those two losses won't affect him that much. The Phillips loss might affect him more than the Hatton loss since everyone knew he was past it fighting Hatton anyway yet still a great win for Hatton no one gave him a chance in.
Another one.. atsch Just because you are ignorant, doesn't mean a thing. YOU may not remember him, but knowledgeable boxing fans will. Bank on it.
Let's face it, Tszyu was inactive at the fight fighting on twice in his last two years in the sport with serious back injuries. Hatton was his mandatory for the IBF title and the best fight to make at that point in his career, fighting Mayweather wasn't going to be a smart choice especially when he's past his best. Also claiming that Mayweather ducked him makes you look stupid as you obviously know about the situations back then especially with the HBO/SHOWTIME case and still ignore it puts you in the Aztek_Cabdriver category.
I know after Mitchell Tszyu was after only 2 names. Mayweather Gatti But because both fighters were both contracted to HBO the likely hood of it happening was not good so he took Hatton on which was a mistake. Especially in the UK. If he got the deal with Gatti he would have beat Gatti. I also feel if he made a deal with Cotto somehow he would have beat Cotto because of his chin.
I agree. Knowing the chin and endurance of Tackie, Kostya thought the best way to win was to turn back the clock in that one. It was a shut out and completely pre planned. His next fight was a real struggle, I felt it was a mixture of trying to hard to please a hometown crowd and an awkward opponent. Then he blew Mitchell away which after a long layoff proved just how dangerous he was right up to the end of his career, granted Mitchell being damaged goods. I felt Kostya was more versatile than people realise, it's just with such big weaponary and the fan popularity it provided him and showtime, he may have forgot to use all his tools sometimes.
No way in hell the Cotto fight would have happened anyway, Cotto was still too new for a big fight like that.
A great fighter who was apart of two of the best moments in recent boxing memory, the emergence of Ricky Hatton and the Zab Judah chicken dance. I dunno where I stand on all this ATG great talk..but he most certainly was great for his time.
