Im just not seeing Mayweather dominate Guerrero as some fans are predicting. Not only do i think it will be competitive, but Guerrero has a very good chance at earning a decision. Its interesting how many different opinions there are about the Mayweather Cotto fight. Even tho it was visibly a tough fight for Floyd, some felt Cotto only won 2-3 rds at best. I believe I gave Cotto 4 rds. Some saw the fight the way i did. Some even go as far as saying he carried Cotto. I wouldnt say that. But could have boxed and moved a bit more instead of sit down on so many of his shots. They say Floyd is aging. They say if the Guerrero fight is competitive its only because Floyd is older and less mobile/his reflexes are slipping. Maybe thats true, but he is wiser and more focused on his fundamentals such as a solid snappy jab, catching punches and countering at mid-range instead of pot-shotting and fighting off the backfoot/setting traps. Where he has lost, he has gained imho. No mattet how you look at it, one thing remains true. When facing a southpaw, Floyd is less defensive-minded, more aggressive, and gets hit by the cleanest, head snapping punches than when vs an orthodox fighter. Guerrero is not only a souhpaw, but he can box like one, inside or out, brawl like one, has a high work rate, and the chin/durability to give Mayweather his first loss. Vote on how you see the fight playing out and give us your thoughts on why. Is it only because Floyd is aged, will recent activities/issues/triumphs in their personal lives play a factor, is it styles make fights, or a bit of everything?
Who knows. I either expect a Mayweather beat down, or a very competitive fight in which Guerrero shows his versatility and Mayweather shows his age.
Floyd stops Guerrero because Guerrero has terrible defense. He'll walk him down like he did Judah and land some amazing rights to the body. Floyd may get hit against southpaws, but it still a very small number of punches they land in the grand scheme. Guerrero unlike Zab doesn't have deceptively sneaky left hand. Robert's main punch is that right jab of his, and Floyd owns this punch. Floyd's great at parrying and countering the right jab. This will be Floyd's easiest fight since Juan. Mayweather detractors best be prepared to cry holy **** why doesn't this negro age!?
Guerrero is sneaky with the left. He threw it down the pipe vs Berto, then changed it to a looping left. Thats something Guerrero is very good at and i see him having success vs Floyd.
PBF is clearly past his best. With that said I expect the Ghost to win no more than 2 rounds largely due to his heart and determination.
Luckily for Guerrero, Berto has the ring iq of a ****ing cockaroach. Agianst the best ring iq in the sport today, thats not going to help Ghost one bit. Expect Ghost face and body to be glued to Floyds right hand all night long.
After watching them vs similar styles, i just see Floyd having such a hard time with the angles a southpaw presents. Guerrero can really box, give Floyd the same issues he had with Corley and Judah. Floyd relies heavily on landing that right hand before the closer right hook lands first. And he tends to get outjabbed and occassionally walked into hard left hands. Guerrero wont.be spent/outgassed how Corley was at the end of rd 4. Or outfought, mentally broke down as Judah was. And Roberts speed isnt an issue either, Guerrero has timing to make up for that and its the southpaw angles that Floyd never sees.the shot coming that makes them effective.
Floyd doesnt think as much vs a southpaw. Cause he isnt setting traps or too concerned about defense. His goal is to get off first, close the gap, and light em up on the inside. He does this vs every southpaw. IQ wont be the determining factor. Itll be if Guerrero is tougher than Floyd or not. If he can suck it up in that 7th, 8th rd and fight as hard as Floyd even tho hes dead tired. I know Floyd will fight till the death, but will Guerrero? At this plint of his life/career, i think he will.
Mayweather isn't as past it as people think. Cotto would be a difficult style for him and make him look vulnerable no matter what version of Floyd fought him. Mayweather TKO.
Unelite Aydin was finding him with right hands downstairs as early as the start of the fight Guerrero doesn't seem to think so. He's said at least three times ever since this fight was signed that Floyd is smart
