I disagree. Cotto has dealt with speed before from the southpaw stance in Zab. Cotto isn't as slow as you make him out to be. He can move effectively has a nice jab and good hand speed. IMO Cotto doesn't fight smart when pressured, he could use a new trainer to teach him how to improve in this area.

Only time i've seen someone slow against Pacquiao, they were slow to begin with. Cotto will look fast ... he's not a 3-time champion from being slow ... you can get lucky and win one but you can't win it mulitple times being slow. He's primed for the big stage and will step up ...

This is not to give you an excuse for the eventual Cotto loss but the fact is Cotto is not the same Cotto he used to be. After the Margarito fight, he slowed down a bit while Pac has improved considerably carrying with him his speed and power.

Simple, to avoid Cotto's power punches, Pacquiao must dodge and parry them like he did to Hatton. Cotto is a little faster than Hatton but he is still not faster than Mayweather or Pacquiao.

Now the question is how would Cotto handle Pacquiao's hand speed? (His power is not to be underestimated aswell.)

So you're saying that Hatton is slow as a lard?

Cotto is fast, but Pacquiao is faster. It's true that Cotto has dealt with a southpaw before (Zab). No offense to the Cotto fans I've seen that fight but I saw Cotto commiting so many low blows! I don't think those kind of techniques will work on Pacquiao.

Hatton came in head first against Pacquiao, he didn't stay compact, he didn't move his head, and didn't pick off incoming shots. He didn't fight they way he was supposed to fight (the way he was against Malignaggi) he fought the same way he fought against Kostya Tszyu ...

Cotto didn't look slow against Clottey ... people never has gotten the respect for the speed he possesses ... its an emphasis on his power.

He has a good jab ... a decent right hand ... great left hook ... and good compact stance.

Mosley and Zab were fast and both gave cotto trouble, now add pac's in and out style with his fast lateral foot speed. Cotto will look like a slug with pac inside the ring...

that's also my exact question. pac's chin wasn't tested above 130, and we all know that cotto has a good power at 147. i will just wait for their fight to find it out.

Pac will respect Cotto's power. That's why he'll be fighting from the outside the first half of the fight. When Cotto gases, and he will, look for Pac to try and finish him off. Key for Cotto to have any chance at this fight is timing and stamina.

That first half of the fight is very dangerous for Pac though. If he survives it, I do like his chances more in the 2nd half of the fight. I'm very interested to see how these two match-up when they finally fight.
