It amuses me to no end that people here think Pac punches harder than Shane, and Cotto took everything Shane threw at him for 12 rounds without going down or ever appearing to be in serious trouble. Pac is unproven as a puncher at 147 and really he's unproved at 140. Cracking a wide open Hatton with a cherry punch directly on the jaw doesn't speak to devastating power so much as a well executed gameplan and the fact that Hatton was walking chin first into everything thrown at him. Mark it, Pacquiao will not overwhelm Cotto and he will have to plan for a long, tactical fight.
I agree, IF (and that's a big if, it's 50/50 for me) Pac wins I imagine it would be more similar to Pac-OLDH (obviously it would be much much more competitive) and less like Pac-Hatton.
I can understand where you're coming from mi gran amigo but have you ever wonder why you're almost always wrong when it comes to predicting the outcomes of pac fights? The good,my friend is that you are not alone.
I have a feeling that PAC will respond like this... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSI-TnZD2LY&feature=related[/ame] I hope that my feeling is wrong.
I reviewed Cotto's fights with Judah, Corley and Quintana to see how that jab went against southpaws...Great weapon for Miguel, I think it will certainly play a part in this fight..If he can get working behind it and push Manny back, its going to get real interesting. I dont see that happening though, its not what Im expecting. I see it really only being a nuisance for Manny as he beats Miguel to the punch and outworks him towards hard earned stoppage victory.
Styles make fights. I am not sure Pac will beat Cotto, but I give him an excellent chance. Roach has been psychic so far.
Cotto's jab will be his most effective punch. As a lead and especially as a counter when Pacquiao moves in. Unfortunately its one of the few successes I think he'll have, I don't think he'll find much of a home for the right hand, and even if he does its not his best punch. I think he'll have difficulty landing left hooks to head or body.
I disagree forcefully :!: Hatton has a way better dirty game than Cotto. Ricky clinches then hits repeatedly, gets his opponents while breaking, rabbit-punches a lot, elbows, head butts, mangles the arms. That beats Cotto's low blows to get out of tight spots! :nut
I give Pacquiao a chance to win, but for the most part I think it was monumentally stupid of Roach and Co. to take this fight. Cotto is a gifted fighter with excellent application skills, not to mention the fact he's bull-strong and well ring savvy.
No, I'm not comparing anyone to Cotto. I'm simply saying that one part of the gameplan Roach typically sets up for Manny is for Manny to take away an opponent's jab.
