How will people feel if Calzaghe loses and Pavlik wins?

Theres a big difference between getting old and getting beaten my friend. Joe hasnt been in many knockdown drag outs over the years and really hasnt taken much punishment. So if Joe loses you would accredit it to him just being old? Interesting

I think that if Calzaghe wins he retires, if he loses he fights Pavlik in Cardiff. If Joe no longer has what he sees as his precious 0 to protect I see him thinking he has little to lose by taking the Pavlik fight - and the money would be very welcome.

In fact Joe has stated that he will retire if he wins. Which is pretty much saying I won't if I lose (well maybe it is).

I don't think Joe will ever fight Pavlik. But Jon if the fight with Jones is competitive and he loses it will eat at Joe like cancer, and would have to redeem himself, which I think he would but in the process make the biggest fight in UK history

You are a hopeless idealist my friend. I wish I was too, but I'm stuck in horrible reality. Everyone knows I am anything but a Calzaghe fan, but I am 1000% confident that Calzaghe will win- and probably by stoppage too.

Look at the evidence- RJJ hasn't fought a top 10 ranked LHW opponent for FOUR YEARS. The last 3 times he mixed in that sort of company, he was sparked twice and lost on a UD. He has had FOUR YEARS to age and decline further since then. In his last fight, he couldn't stop a guy fighting TWENTY-FIVE pounds above his natural fighting weight, who hadn't fought in THREE YEARS and hadn't won a fight in FOUR YEARS. And Calzaghe is a better fighter than the 2 guys who sparked Jones 4 years ago. Think about it mate- you're living in dreamland thinking Jones has even a microscopic chance. He will be stopped, and it will be another tragedy because Calzaghe is just another guy that peak RJJ would have embarrassed.

I just can't believe this fight was even sanctioned by the authorities. Isn't there some rule about sanctioning a fight between an active champion, and a guy who hasn't fought at world level in years??

I'm praying I'm wrong, but I know I'm not. Maybe if everyone thought the same, there wouldn't have been any support for this farce, and the fight wouldn't have happened, and we wouldn't have to watch this horrible end for a legend.

Shame on Calzaghe for this, taking the money to beat up a faded legend. Despicable.

Jones is just too old man, I hate to agree with Pac here but he's right, as painful as it is.

I'm saying there are two possible out comes (from a loss standpoint).

    1. Joe has become shot to **** in the space between his last fight, and he loses - and it is terribly clear that he is by no means the fighter we know. In this scenario the loss doesn't affect his legacy as much, as it is clear he is simply shot.

    2. He doesn't look shot to ****, and he loses (legacy wrecking) Lets not pretend RJJ isn't shot, he is just that.

There is probably a third, very unlikely scenario:
    3. RJJ manages to wind back the clock and utilises combination punching like we haven't seen consistently in half a decade, and Joe loses a narrow decision - maintaining most of his credibility.

As in the thread, or if the scenario played out, cause i'd be surprised if you didn't end your own life.

Wow I respect your opinion but isnt it slightly naive to say Jones just has no chance, he's too old? I'm not trying to be some idealist but that fact is Jones does have a chance, certainly a better one than you both agknowledge.
Fact is Roy is 3 years older than Joe
Despite Roys last opponent you have to agknowledge the abilities, intelligence and talent he displayed.
Roy weighed in at 169 for his last fight, the first time he's done this in years, he looked healthy
Now look at Joes last performance, he looked like ****, say what you want about Hopkins ruining the fight, but thats partial bull****, and you know it
So to say Roy is just to old is horribly out of touch, which brings me back to the title of this thread.....
So scar how will you feel??????

Don't really care but what are Calzaghe's chances of losing?
