How will people feel if Calzaghe loses and Pavlik wins?

I did not vote in the poll becuase there was no "I'd be shocked" option.

Roy Jones is more shot than John and Bobby Kennedy combined! I won't be able to stop myself from rooting for him, but Roy's chances are somewhere between slim and none. That's why Slappy Joe wanted the fight!

Yeah, it can be a worthwhile thing to have on your CV, but it depends who the fighter is. If he got beaten by Kessler and came back to win a rematch it would be somewhat tolerable.

Roy Jones though, I don't think so. But again, this is where we differ. I wasn't impressed with Roy against Trinidad. Or even Hanshaw prior to that.

That would be the reaction of many but only immediately, afterwards I'd be willing to bet you would be happy:yep

I consider all four amongst my favourites.

I consider Roy the best boxer of his generation, and the best boxer I've seen
in over 43 years of watching fights.

Calzaghe is the second best 168 ever.

Both are past their prime, but I believe Joe has more left and should win this one.

Hypothetically, both at prime 168, I see Roy winning his toughest fight ever by a clear margin. A KO is possible but unlikely.

Bernard is much better than Pavlik but, like the above two, is past his best.

Probably more past it than Joe but not as much past it as Roy.

Prime for prime at MW, Bernard wins a wide UD or a late KO.

Right now, I give him a better chance of pulling off the upset than Roy.

BTW, I hope you remember what you're saying now, after this fight:

Well -- I have considered the following scenario: Jones and Pavlik win: Jones takes a fight with Pav and gets KTFO. Taylor beats Lacy and Kessler. Joe's legacy is now shot to ****, and he "just fades away to bolivian.":yep

Just my personal opinion chu. I agree with most of what you said only I feel that Jones has recovered from his crushing defeats due in part to being physically weak and will give us more than just a glimpse of his former self. That said both fights will be exciting in many ways. The original post of mine is just how I see it, despite it being different from many, I feel many don't give Jones enough credit. If Joe does win it wont be as easy as many indicate, partly why I'll give Joe more credit if infact he does win.
Jones lost and got KTFO a few times, then again so did Tommy Hearns and he hadnt accomplished half of what Roy has, so lets seriously put things in perspective

    Cheers:good

Too bad your little dream there will fall at the first hurdle. Just like the Chinese man at the Olympic games

Well -- right now I think your Slappy Joe inflatable doll might give Jones a good fight, so ya, that scenario is very unlikely. So is any scenario that has Slappy beating Pavlik, because JOE WON'T FIGHT.

  How many rematches has Roy Jones ever granted in his career? 1? You think he would actually rematch Calzaghe if he wins? Have you not followed Roy's career of handpicked fights? :rofl

Yeah because it's normal for fighters to rematch guys they dominated the first time out.
