Now that the Manny Steward era is coming to an end, how will the rest of the world adapt without American training, especially in the Heavyweight division? Before Lewis became the pride of Canada, he was an Olympic gold medalist, winning gold for his beloved country in the 88 Olympics. After winning the WBC belt in 93, he made 2 successful defenses until he met Steward trained boxer Oliver McCall.. Under Manny's tutelage, McCall savagely knocked Lewis out in Wembley Stadium London, shocking millions of Brits, Canadians, and Jamaicans. Wlad Klitschko had a very similar background. Another Olympic Gold Medalist, Wlad Klitschko was a top contender in the HW division almost as soon as he became pro. Rebounding from a devastating KO loss by decorated journeyman Ross Purrity, he captured the lightly regarded WBO strap after 3 years going pro. After several defenses, he got brutally KO'd again by Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster. This left Wlad at a crossroad. Wlad prayed and prayed until finally, Manny Steward graced him with his slick American boxing training.. So what I'm trying to say is how will the rest of the Heavyweight division adapt without American style training now that Wlad is nearing retirement and Manny respectfully passed away? The Brit's in this board really believe that they're gonna take over, but I tend not to be so gullible. Fool me once, shame on you.. fool me 8 or more times, shame on me. After the Coopers, Hayes, Prices, Brunos, Harrisons, Hides and Williams, I'm just not buying it anymore. Discuss.
