That's like trying to teach an abattoir worker neurosurgery. I recall several fighters Snr tried to overhaul with this technique and it had mixed success at best.
He won't. AJ will win the rematch. But, then again, what if Floyd is actually jealous of AJ and he's not properly teaching him those fancy tricks so that he loses the rematch? Maybe he's just trying to rip him off? It happens often between such ambitious people.
The only 'roll' I'm leaning towards with AJ is probably a losing one. I just hope he throws caution to the wind and makes it a short war, **** or bust. Let's have some fireworks in the re-match. Will the ESB RBR post numbers for this surpass the original I wonder.
Hey, that's disrespectful, the guy got busted for selling weed as a kid! Being a scientific boxer won't work well for AJ against Usyk and good luck just learning the shoulder roll and using it well against a Southpaw. AJ should go full serch and destroy mode, the problem is that Usyk has shown that he has enough power to wobble him.
Toney developed that style over years of work on the gym with Bill Miller. The shoulder roll makes zero sense for a guy like Joshua who has height and reach. It's mostly a good guard for a counter puncher or someone that has fast hands not a tall fighter that usually uses reach, distance and power to win fights.
I would respect AJ more, if he would just go for the KO and not box for more rounds, even if he gets stopped inside 6 rounds, he would show more courage that way
Mindset coach is what AJ needs, not Floyds patterned shoulder roll. Any mention of the fight yet? Location? Potential date?
The shoulder roll is one of the most high risk methods of defence and best employed against a fighter aggressively pressing the action. Zero chance Joshua will use that against Usyk...
AJ has always seemed very respectful of Mayweather and they've been on good terms even having Mayweather doing a media event with AJ in the promotion for his first fight with Ruiz Jr. While Mayweather is no doubt capable of such jealously and pettiness, I don't think he sees AJ as any kind of threat to his own fame and legacy as AJ has already lost twice. Also if AJ loses it will be seen as AJ's inadequacies but should Joshua win in the rematch Mayweather will likely be lauded with praise for masterminding the seemingly impossible which for an egotist like Mayweather will be very attractive.
