If a world champ has a record like this how should he be rated out of 10? Total fights 49 Wins 39 Wins by KO 23 Losses 9 No contests 1
it make NO Difference IF they are World champions or not, title achievement lists alone, are absolutely 100% inaccurate... there have been Hundreds of Thousands of Boxers, Thousands of them at the Top over 150 years of Boxing... so lists have to be Categorized into Sections, i.e Strongest Nations/Countries, to Lesser Countries and then into Greatest Era's, followed too, by Weaker Era's - Collected Worldwide and Over 150 years of Boxing. then you 'attempt' to be Place, Rank, Rate, whatever you wish to call it, into about 5 different Teirs between Elite to Very Good. then and only then will you have Objective Lists, of anywhere between 2000 - 3000 of the Greatest Fighters who Graced the Squared Circle from around the World and through the Years. it all has to do with TOP Fighters, Longeviety at the TOP and Opposition...
Depends entirely who he fought, and the context of those fights. Could be a legendary ATG or a complete joke. What's a better record 60-6-1 (53 wins by KO) or 44-10-2 (29 wins by KO)? The latter is Evander Holyfield, and the former is Shannon Briggs.
Records can be very misleading. People as drastically different as Ezzard Charles, Matthew Saad Muhammad, and Saoul Mamby all have unimpressive looking records...until you really analyze them.
With this criteria, does that mean that Devin Haney (25-0, 15 KOs) is an ATG compared to Sugar Ray Leonard (36-3-1, 25 KOs)?
That`s because Leonard retired so young until he came back v Howard and then retired again until he met Hagler.
A record on it's own means absolutely nothing. It entirely depends on the quality of the opposition. Otherwise Christoper Lovejoy would be the best HW in the world ! Maybe he is.
Ah..trick question. Let me do the equation. It's Kirk Johnson coming right off a huge win over his own trainer Teddy Atlas in an unsanctioned front yard brawl.
So what are you saying? There are actually reasons for Leonard having a worse win-loss record than Haney?
