How would a decisive win by Shogun over Forrest change your views on Aoki-Melendez I

It wouldn't.

Nobody was denying that transitioning from J-MMA to US-MMA is tricky but that doesn't excuse how **** poor Aoki was against Melendez. Indeed they're very comparable fights - Shogun's unfamilarity in the cage didn't help but judging by his performances against Coleman, Jones and to a lesser extent Liddell the bigger issue was his lack of fitness. Likewise Aoki's problem isn't that he doesn't know how to use the cage but that if he can't get something to the ground he poses no offensive threat.

 

Well first of all he has in a handful of fights. And secondly there's fewer wrestlers competing in Dream so he's usually good enough to get the fight to the ground.

None. I think Melendez is a better fighter than Aoki and Aoki wasn't coming off of double knee surgery in his fight with Melendez. I don't hate Aoki and I don't disregard that switching to a different ruleset can be challenging but I think Mel is just a better fighter.
