    1) different weight classes
    2) shogun and forrest are out of their primes whilst aoki and melendez havent even reached their peak of performance yet
    3) different fighting styles shogun-muay thai striker whilst forrest grifffin = pillow fists
    4) Aoki is more of a grappler than striker whilst melendez likes to bang so comparing shogun and griffin to them is pointless
    5) Shogun and Griffin is nothing like the aoki vs melendez fight and never will be.

Wow, this is the longest thing I have ever seen you write, but:

    1) I don't see what that has to do with the cage or ring,

    2) Agree

    3) Forrest = Pillow Fists fighting style? :huh

    4) Melendez actually began with wrestling I believe, but ya, he's pretty versatile, I was not comparing their style, just the way they were unprepared for the cage, if that depends on styles, then how?

    5) This is more of a conclusionary statement than a point, but you actually voted for "I hate Aoki" which is what I was asking about

yea well i dont find aoki exciting ae and i think him breaking that dude's arm or whatever wasnt sportsman like ae. My favourite japanese fighters are:
    1) Kid yamamoto
    2) Masato Kobayashi
    3) Yoshihiro Akiyama
    then...
    4) Shinya Aoki
I hate aoki because i really dont think he could beat frankie, gray, gilbert, jim miller, eddie alvarez or the ex lightweight bj penn therefore i wouldnt put in the top 5 lightweights.

its true isnt it beekeeper? or are you trying to find a concrete arguement to say that the leggings did not attribute to the win?

They are made from a secret fabric from silkworms in the Goyaki Prefecture. I believe that SF intentionally altered the friction properties of the mat before the fight to make Aoki even more unconfotable on the ground and make sure their champ wins.

you cant compare the 2 fights cuz of the simple reason that they dont have the same styles.
shogun came of surgery and he is a striker and aoki is a grappler.

OK here's how i see it , Aoki beat a less skilled Melendez when he could of been seen as a novice , Melendez has now evolved into an all round better fighter than Aoki and due'lly beat him down in the re match , there current status would see Melendez ranked above Aoki pretty much without argument !!!!

Griffin was in his peak (or close too) when he beat one of the worst Shogun's we have ever seen enter the cage , remember it wasnt a full 18 months after the Griffin fight that Shogun began to look somewhat like his old self again , as it stands right now Shogun should still be a P4P entry and considered an elite fighter in the sport , the defeat / performance should be written off as another Jon Jones victim (there will be more like him) therefore many will beleive Shogun should beat Griffin coming into this re match , this fight was a case of Griffin getting Shogun at the right time .

The re match IMO will be somewhat different , where as if Aoki fought Melendez again tomorrow ring or cage ive got Melendez every time !!!

My mistake i thought for some reason it was Aoki who beat Melendez , :patsch when it was actually Ishida .................... I remember him losing in that fight and had for some resason logged it as Aoki :nut

It was the worst Shogun ever to enter a live mma contest IMHO , he has been quoted as saying to those close to him he took the fight for a payday and knew he was well below normal standard due to injuries and lack of a real traning camp , coupled with that it was Griffin pretty close to his best , Shogun couldnt do anything in the fight and Griffin is Griffin he fought a superb fight but the levels these guys operate at at full pelt are IMO very diffrerent and if Shogun turns up as the Shogun who fought Machida he's gonna make Griffin look a bit stupid if you ask me !!!

Edit ; i dont think the cage hampers Shoguns style at all tbh , he is a fluent type of fighter who hardly looks to stall a fight , if he's on the feet he's looking for a finish , the same on top and on the bottom he constantly looks for leg locks and sweeps utilising his excellent butterfly guard , the cage should suit Shogun if his conditioning is right , or not if he fights an ultra dominant wrestler (Jon Jones) which Forrest Griffin is not !!!!

I would like to addres this actually, if you have a guy who you have been shitalking with for the past year in a hammerlock, and he refuses to submit, do you just let him run free?
