I like Jones by the way, just tired of reading the same things over and over so I thought Id get them out of the way myself

There's about 3 or 4 posters who write a variant of my OP constantly and it's getting a bit annoying to me, so this is a pre emptive strike so to speak, lets see if they can actually discuss this with out using the same ole ****

As to the match up, I dont know really, both would be looking to overwhelm each other in way way or another. I love Wandy, but he does have his faults, dont see the clinch working for him in this one, Id give the edge to Jones

PRIDE rules or UFC? Elbows will be important

Pride rules since wanderlei's prime was in pride. Just love the way silva fought back then. He just intimidate you even before the fight with his ice cold staredown.

He'd be demolished because his takedown defense was always poor, looping caveman swings are no answer for a telephone pole of a jab, and he'd have no answer for the extended and brutal GnP other than shifting his hips back-and-forth for aborted triangle and armbar attempts like he does in all of his fights.

There are absolutely no 205ers in the short history of the sport who I would make a favorite over Jones because it appears that he's on an entirely different level from the rest, and time will tell if that's true.

Everyone loves the way he fought :good
But I do think the reach knowledge and ground game of Jones would put Wandy at a significant disadvantage with those wild flurries, either with a take down of a strike straight down the pipe

Tito outwrestled a prime Wanderlai Silva so Jon Jones could probably pull off the same trick.

Under PRIDE rules Wandy all the way for me. The unified rules help Jones tremendously as does the cage. Plus Wandy was no slouch from guard.

Also, Jobes might have a long reach but he doesn't really implement a 'telephone pole jab IMO', his own offence is wild and innovative, and if it's under Pride rules Wandy could well soccer kick him into oblivion.

Not sure **** Bader and (possibly) shot Rua make Bones the best 205lber of all time....yet ;-)

Jones. Under Pride rules it would just take a little longer.

In Pride Wanderlei Silva hands down.
In UFC Jon Jones by a huge margin.

I've got to see more of Jones before I have a solid opinion. I think Shogun is a better striker than Wanderlei, but I don't think Wanderlei is as easy to put on his back.

This is just too soon for me to give an informed opinion. I need to see some more of Jones' stand up.
