Even if we are we talking 60's(prime) Ali here?

And i don't think Wlad would respect Alis power. He would bee way more aggressive than against the likes of David Haye for example. I smell UD for Wladimir. Something like Lewis-Holyfield.

I know I have been on a long boxing sabbatical, due to the total decline of the heavyweight division.. but surely, it hasn't come to this? Has this generation of fight fans gone mad? Where Wlad Klitschko is mentioned in the same breathe as Ali.. How would Ali beat him? Like a rug that's how... No contest... Tyson would have destroyed Wlad in one round, Holmes would have boxed his ears off before stopping him, Frazier would have dug a tunnel in his midsection, Foreman would've kill him, Shavers would have paralyzed him, I could go on and on. Ali fought all these heavyweights and beat them, (excluding Tyson) when he was past his prime.. 3 of his prime years were lost to the draft issue.. The heavyweight of the 60's and 70's were the best we've had in more than 50 years.. And he beat them all.. He revenged all his loses except for his last two fights, which he was clearly a shadow of himself..

Not really if anything this generation has smartened up,this is mainly due to internet access and ability to study practically any fighter on the fly through direct media...the old Ali myths have been busted in two...this has happened because video footage doesn't lie...the old stories of his impeccable defense, blazing hand speed incredible footwork are easily examined and in MANY cases proven to be false in MANY fights.

Just of note about this match up regardless...Wlad is susceptiple to AGGRESSIVE swarmers who hook punched ,pressure like fighters like Peter...Ali is the TOTAL opposite and would fall right into Wlads game, that dance arounfd get your opponent tired while he follows you around the ring tactic is way to easy for the intelligence of a Wlad Klitchko. And just out of curiousity who did Shavers exactly beat to suggest he is remotely going to give Wlad a challenge and how many of his big fights did he win?

Believe it our not, I think Ali is a little mis-understood. Ali liked the action to come to him. He wasn't as good leading. ( Advantage Wlad ) His skills are not as good as media clips or pundits say. He actually has a few flaws in his game on offense and defense.

    They are:

Offense: No infighting skills, a weak slapping type of left hook, no uppercuts. Next to no body punching. Limited one punch power with eh cross being his only power shot. This means Wlad biggest weakness ( Chin and infighting ) won't be as much of an issue.

Defense : A low guard, had issues with good jabbers at all stages of his career, got nailed with the left hook. Wlad has an all time jab, and devastating left hook.

What's under rated about Ali is his will to win, brute strength, and smarts in the ring.

I think Ali would need to take the fight to Wlad, but he could not win with rope a dope ( Wlad is very smart too ), nor could he hope Wlad to gas out as to be truthful his conditioning is pretty much excellent.

So who wins? Post 1970, I think Wlad does a Kenny Norton and then some on Ali.

If we are talking about Ali in the mid to late 1960's, it would be a great fight. I like Ali via late round TKO, perhaps down on points, but it would have to be 15 rounds. I think Ali's toughness and blows landed would ware Wlad down.

I think Wlad is a very tough match up for Ali as he had the jab of Norton, the power of Foreman, the hook of Frazier, was bigger / had better range, and was nobody's fool. Defensively, Wlad is not easy to hit either. Ali would need to be at his best.

Actually few have ever claimed Ali had impeccable defense. He wasn't hit much at his best but that's not the same thing. Same with Wlad actually.

I don't think today's generation has wised up. Sure, casual fans have access to footage the more hardcore fan had to dig up and search for, that is true.
In any rate, it's still a case of seeing what one wants to see a lot of the time.

Ali had one of the best left hook come uppercut in the business.

Prime Ali was 214lbs and 6''3. That's not cruiserweight.

Impossible fight fanatics who study or historians of boxing clearly have plenty of footage once not having access to,the era of wait and see a fight when its on T.V and opinionated one sided points are gone..Well what was his best?Name a fight and I can show you he was indeed hit many times, excluding 40 something year old liston.

To be honest, it was not exactly difficult to track down Ali fights. Sure, one can literally pick and choose now on the internet, but anyone who was a fan of the sport would have a fair bit of Ali footage.

He was after all, the most popular athlete on the planet for many years. I would imagine that any fight fan would have seen Ali on numerous occasions.
I certainly did and I hardly had to look far either.
I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

What?! Are you picking Ali and I'm picking Wlad? What has the world come to?

Ps. Ali's uppercut is underrated. Not his best punch, but he hurt Patterson, Ellis and Quarry with it off the top of my head. Look how he brutally snaps Jimmy's head back going backwards and tell me he had no uppercut.

Thers a difference between old VHS tapes and many clear fight vids lets be real here. The point is obvious, anyone who doesn't even know that much about boxing can learn what most had to in a decade in a matter of weeks on the internet alone..

The 1970's/mid 70's Ali was more durable than 60's Ali..i don't think Wlad has any trouble with a 210ish HW that cant take left hooks.

I don't know what video clips of Ali you've been watching... I see it differently. And he fought the greatest fighters of the last half century. He was the greatest.. simple as that.. I see lighting fast combinations, elusive footwork, ring generalship, and when he wanted to punch off his toes, he could knock anyone down..Frazer couldn't floor Oscar Bonavena, Ali did. How do you explain that? And the internet has not made fans smarter... just more opinionated. His durability was amazing, he was hit by some of the greatest punchers in history and could not be stopped..
