How would Ali Frazier III have turned out if Ali was as well conditioned as he was in Zaire?

I thought Muhammad Ali was in shape for both the George Foreman fight in 1974 and the third Joe Frazier fight in 1975, in Manila, Though he was a year younger and less battle worn, he would have had a battle on his hands with Joe. I do believe he would have stopped Frazier in round 12. Remember the second fight against Joe, Ali came close to stopping Frazier in round 2, if it had not been for referee Tony Perez on Jan 28 1974.

He was a little heavier in Manila but that was by design. Ali came out throwing vicious leather, flat rooted. Ali believed he was gonna humiliate Joe that day.
Ali's physical condition was on point. Who ever threw that many hard shots every round? In that heat. Taking so much in return. maybe the extra weight helped him in that heat. Ferdie Pacheco was half a women with his nose in Ali's rear. He was referring to his affair with Veronica. That stuff didnt affect his training. He fed off the Chaos.

Pacheco wasn't referring to the affair with Veronica. He specifically said that Ali hadn't trained as hard for the fight in Manila as he had trained for Foreman.

Norton said during the fight in Manila that Frazier was in better shape than Ali.

Ali had been heavier than he was in Zaire in each of his three defences before fighting Frazier and all for the same reason - he hadn't trained as hard.

Let's face it, this is a good ol' 'Ali is Unbeatable and Can Only Be Tested if He Hasn't Trained or Has Been in Exile' thread.

If you take weight as the sole indicator of condition. Ali was training in Zaire to dance, side to side. Be on his toes. He improvised to the ring conditions. In Manila Ali weight was reported at 224lbs. We learned later they weighed in days sooner than the states. Frazier being 215. They probably were both 5lbs lighter. Ali wanted a few extra pounds to help him against Frazier. He hoped it would help his power, absorb inside warfare. Functional strength, lean on Joe, push him back.
Dundee said Ali was in great condition, Ali himself said it, the record number of punches thrown in extreme heat removes any mystery.

The weight cutting PEDs were a thyroid medication prescribed by Herbert Muhammad's quack physician based on nothing more than observation; no blood work/lab tests were ever performed, and after the Holmes fiasco, when Ali's thyroid WAS tested, it was normal. On top of that, Ali took more than the prescribed dose, thinking they were like vitamins or pep pills. The overdose of a wrongly prescribed medication almost killed him in Vegas; in the much harsher conditions in Manila, it would have finished the job

Yep, and I think a lot of his strategy was based on the belief in his camp that Frazier was easy pickings at that point; Foreman had demolished him, Joe had health issues and had been relatively inactive compared to Ali. Muhammad was planning on an early knockout, and the extra weight would have helped with his punches - but part of him knew how stubborn Frazier could be, so it's safe to assume he prepared accordingly

Had Ali not been in fantastic shape,,he'd have been ko'ed by Frazier's relentless assault. I read once where after the fight, Frazier went and cleaned up and went out,,Ali curled up and lay in the fetal position all night.
