Its more risky to go down in weight than go up. Lets look at Floyd's work at junior middleweight. Every time he fought at 154 he came in at 149-151 pounds. He could have weighed 148 or 154 and the outcome would be the same. Ward weighed in at 172 in his last fight and looked lean and fit. If Ward were to struggle at 175 it has nothing to do with weight. It has to do with his opponents being better than him. But I know if Ward does fight at 175 and loses, YTBC guys like Dontae will have a video up showing how Ward was too small for 175.

Both Hopkins and Ward have good chins. Both have faced some big hitters and have coped well. I think Ward would more than likely win every round until he gets KO'd on the spot or else he might survive. Kovalev isn't good enough to outbox Ward, I don't think anyone in that weight area is.

:nod Pascal is a beast with a granite chin and he had blurry vision and his eardrum popped by round 3, Hopkins has a GOAT chin he tried to engage and went down in round 1 and got up with the epitome of a WTF face, like he was asking himself have the hell have I done, goddamn this mother****er hits hard? It doesn't matter how many skills you have the Krusher touches you and all that **** goes out the window.:deal

... for a few rounds until he would be stopped.

All Ward's opponents would be killed by LHW Kovalev.

They were all Super Middleweights who never campaigned any notable length at 175.

    Obvious is obvious...

EDIT: Dawson. He's the only one. I think prime Dawson is epic underrated but I feel he matches up very poorly stylistically with Kovalev and would likely lose to him.

He beats all of Ward's opposition, Prime Jones would stand a decent chance, but would have to fight a perfect fight or catch Kovalev early with a huge shot.

A well placed shot from prime Tarver has the potential to hurt Kovalev as well, but I think Tarver would spend most of the time "dressed down" in defense and lose on the scorecards. Of course he would whine about how his big lips were not busted and how he won the fight despite taking several shots on his ugly melon.

I cant see Ward out boxing Kovalev from the outside. He's too tall with long reach. Plus Ward's footwork is average.

Kovalev beats all of Ward's opponents.

I think RJJ or Tarver at 175 are good fights though.

Well, apparently, prime Darnell Boone would only lose a controversial Split Decision to him.
