Prime Kessler would offer the toughest challenge, that would be an immense fight if Mikkel carried the weight well

Kessler would not only getting schooled but getting absolutely hammered. Nothing would work with 1-2 robot against Kovalev. Same spanking for Froch aswell.

Kovalev beats every one of Ward's ex opponents.

Mikkel Kessler at his prime (not the version that Ward fought though) would probably provide Kovalev with the biggest challenge.

All of the other guys would be terribly outmatched.

    Probably.

Guys like Bika, Miranda, Smith, Green etc would be terrible mismatches.

Abraham is small even at 168, he has no business fighting at 175.

Froch would be outclassed, most likely stopped.

The only guy I could see giving Kovalev a good fight is Kessler, although he would be a considerable underdog as well.

Kovalev beats all of the guys Ward faced, especially at 175. At 168 Kovalev conceivably could have had some problems, though. But not at 175.

Kovalev vs prime Chad Dawson @175 could've been interesting though.

Same with Ward vs Pascal from B-Hop 1 and Dawson fights.

Kovalev would of knocked out Kessler within 6 rounds. The 2009 Kessler was inactive and had neck, back injuries. He was a stiff.

Were talking about them when they fought Ward. No in the primes.
