I do not disagree with the general premise of your post but I would like you to name one opponent from each category you listed for each of... The Dark Destroyer, Lights Out, The Executioner, The Bodysnatcher and the G-man. Obviously it would be most relevant if you could limit your choice of opponents to fights contested at MW or SMW so that they are more relevant to a theoretical GGG matchup. Nothing personal, I just like seeing posters put their money where their posts are :deal

Benn was just a bigger version of Golovkin, and was better on the inside than GGG is. Benn by KO.

Toney would counterpunch him into unconsciousness like he did to Evander Holyfield.

GGG would beat Hopkins - he has easily obliterated all the slick defensive fighters he has fought (Monroe, Geale, Proksa, and others). I know BHop was better than those guys but GGG knocked them out very easily. GGG would outpoint BHop.

McCallum was a hard hitter who was never hurt, despite fighting guys like Watson and Roy Jones. But style-wise, GGG would have an advantage and would land on him at will, and would probably win by decision or late stoppage.

McClellan would be a competitive fight, just like Benn vs McClellan was. But GGG doesn't get inside as fast as Benn did, and GGG just isn't that good on the inside because of his long arms (his real weak point). I'd favor McClellan slightly in this fight.

Benn: Mclellan, Eubank, Collins, Malinga, Dewitt, Barkley, (no speedster)

    Mclellean: Jackson, Mugabi, Benn,

    Hopkins: Jones,Mercado,Echols, Simon Brown,John David Jackson,trinidad

    Toney: Nunn,Mcallum,Sosa,Reggie Johnson, Jones,Barkley

    Mcallum: Kalambay, Toney,

That's off the top of the head. I know I'm missing some but I'm at work :patsch. Using your criteria of only MW or SMW, a couple guys (notably Mcallum) come up a little short but it is what it is. All of the guys have faced overall superior competition.

No arguments here, all of these man have certainly faced superior competitoin to GGG at MW and SMW. I just don't think that all of them could say they have faced one of each of...

    An Elite Boxer-Puncher
    A Speedster
    A Brawlers
    A Defensive specialists
    A Bombers
    and
    A Granite Chinned Bruiser

I agree with your point. But the Devil needs an advocate :yep

Toney, Hopkins and McCallum would all likely decision Golovkin. They have skills that GGG simply hasn't faced yet.

Toney eats fighters alive that come to him, he counters the easy to hit Golovkin all night, might even force the stoppage if Golovkin keeps coming. If heavyweights couldn't take out Toney an in shape Toney would be just too much.

McCallum and Hopkins are just too skilled too technically sound. The bodysnatcher faced many styles including murderous punchers and beat them all in his prime. Hopkins too smart, too savvy, would be nasty on the inside and elusive from range and if Hopkins can take the power of light heavies then Golovkin isn't going to do much to him. Both BHop and McCallum win by decision.

Benn is a harder fight to call. Benn was vulnerable at times but he tended to lose to better boxers not better brawlers. Fact is people that stood and traded with Benn often got blasted out. Barkley was as hard as nails and Benn mauled him, McClellan had crazy power but even he couldn't subdue the beast that was Benn. I'd favour Benn in a wild brawl, Benn may need to pick himself off the canvas but he'd come out on top in the end.

Golovkin is good and by far the best middleweight around now, but he's not been seriously tested yet. Not his fault, he's been avoided like the plague. Maybe a few years from now he'll be rated more highly, but then maybe not, time will tell.

For which of the fighters mentioned in the OP would this apply? :think Only McCallum by my count and even for him it was in the early stages of his career, before he ever won his first world title.

And James Toney lost a fight to Dave Tiberi in the minds of all people who watched the fight besides the official judges :think

The G-Man lost to Dennis Milton and Ralph Ward :think

Benn squeaked out a controversial SD over Sanderline Williams in a fight many felt he drew or lost.

B Hop lost to Clinton Mitchell

The bodysnatcher is the only mentioned in the title of the OP without a loss or controversial result against a middling opponent.

There are many valid arguments to be made for why all these men should be favored, but you are not making one of those arguments :deal
