Bruno gets his fourth shot against moorer in 94 instead of George, how does he do? Can he do a foreman and ko mike or does moorer get through to Bruno s chin? Would this be Frank's moment of glory?
Foreman's chin was way better so I doubt he could take the punches and still be there late in the fight like Foreman did. But clearly Moorer could get caught early and put away. If Foreman was lighter. Maybe around the 235 to 240 mark he could of got more out their earlier. So either Moorer fights smart and TKO's Bruno late or he fights stupid and gets stopped early.
Bruno stops him. You had to have a level of durability to beat Bruno because, the Tyson rematch excepted, he always had his moments in fights. Whilst he was stiff and somewhat mechanical he did possess size and legitimate power, certainly far more power than Moorer could take imo. Moorer wasn't anything special at heavy. He caught Holyfield on the right night (even then you could mount a serious argument that he lost that) went life and death with Bert Cooper, got iced by an inactive 46 year old, destroyed by Holyfield in a rematch and obliterated in half a minute by David Tua. Those are his highlights aside from a come from behind KO of Jirov who wasn't a proper heavyweight anyway. I think Moorer did have some nice skills and was a monster puncher at Lt Heavy but only a fair puncher at Heavyweight and lacked the size, strength and chin to withstand a sustained attack from Big Frank. I see Bruno landing some solid jabs and controlling the range before connecting with a big right and that's all she wrote. Bruno KO 3.
It's a shame moorer didn't take on Bruno really. I think it was have been his best shot at winning the lineal title. Moorer would have been discouraged by Frank's punches the jab especially. Bruno, if in right frame of mind would rough moorer up , whacking the jab in and coming over with some solid right s. Could see a top, confident frank stopping him around the fifth. That would would have meant more in my mind as beating mccall.
If moorer had boxed a smart fight he could of won a decision but I think he would of got dragged into a give and take fight with Bruno. mikes chin was never great at HW all the.fighters who beat frank had solid chops if moorer eats a big shot he is toast.
I agree with you. Anything can happen in this fight though, both have the power to KO each other, but if the fight goes 12 rounds I'd pick Moorer like 115-113
MM late tko. Those accurate hands are a big problem for Frank late. He can avoid the wide looping right hands from some opponents but not the straight shot 2 handed attack guys. I think Evander chews him up with that 2 hand accuracy also. The other big thing is Bruno fighting a southpaw. I think he does not solve Moorer. His chances would be much better if Moorer was a traditional fighter. But that Moorer held those hands high and threw an accurate jab that was not telegraphed. I think he wins the battle of the jabs for sure in this. And that nasty right hook is not something to ignore either. Frank tries to jab, misses, and gets countered. And maybe we are talking about 2 or 3 counter shots to eat and not a solitary punch. I just don't like the Bruno chances if he's outjabbed. He has to set the table. And if the Moorer camp could get the fight out of Wembley and make Bruno take his act on the road--like the Tyson camp did. I just don't picture Bruno getting A+ results being a road warrior. On the contrary----being flat or a little off & never comfortable.
MM who fought Tua had seen better days. Then one who fought Foreman had good boxing skills and was caught with big punch like Nunn against Toney and was never the same after. However if a ancient slow as snail Gf could catch MM then so called Bruno. Bruno by stoppage in 8 rounds.
I like Moorer by late stoppage. His southpaw stance and that good right jab would trouble Bruno. MM wasn`t a huge KO puncher at heavy but he had a nice jab and his right hook was kinda sharp. I think he had enough to hurt Bruno at least by the later rounds when accumulation adds up.
