I was watching Froch's fight with Ward yesterday, and they're both great fighters, but it put into perspective, just how great Roy was back in the day. I think The Toney or Vinny Paz version of Roy at 26, beats everybody today at SMW.

I think Bute would cause him a few problems though, and Dirrell if he was mentally prepared.

I think he'd handle Ward without too many problems.

I think he'd beat Kessler pretty comfortably.

I love Carl, but I honestly think he'd destroy him, no problem.

I think he'd beat the others comfortably too.

Before someone brings Glen Johnson up, I think Roy at his peak, would beat Glen without too much trouble.

    Thanks!

    Loudon.

His fights with Siaca, Beyer,Mundine, Andrade, and Lucas which were all right before Calzaghe were all for the most part good wins and better than Green, Boualda and Perdermo.Froch is limited but you cannot doubt the mans determination to win which has taken him alot farther than most expected. It will be good to see him fight Bute. It should be exciting and hopefully Ward-Bute afterwards.

    Ha!

He certainly wasn't comfortable in the first half of the fight though was he?

Great fight though, I really enjoyed it. Couldn't see Roy having any trouble with Kessler though.

    Regards, Loudon.

Well thats what made Calzaghe good, his ability to adapt. Calzaghe won 9 - 3 on most score cards so i say it was pretty easy with a few scares from a great fighter in his prime

Wow you clearly have reading and comprehension issues :patsch

Speaking of the 'who beat who' first theory, Looking through I found this gem:

    :lol::rofl:patsch

So then, do you not accept that styles make fights? How Bute and Froch individually got on against Magee is irrelevant, remember.....

Bute beat Magee better than Froch beat Magee = Bute is better than Froch?

    Great argument you clown. :deal:deal

    Anyways

Froch v Ward is a very tough match up, it would be a very boring fight that would almost certainly go to the score-cards. I could see Calzaghe winning a close UD, whilst Calzaghe, like Froch, likes to fight mid-range, and Ward would try not to give him the mid-range, Calzaghe is much quicker and had a higher ring IQ than Froch. Furthermore, Calzaghe had better inside skills than people give him credit for.

As for against Dawson, Zaggers on workrate. Dawson can be too passive, Calzaghe would capitalise on that. Dawson often gives rounds away by simply being inactive, a key example is against Pascal (not that Pascal and Calzaghe are similar). Calzaghe was renowned for his work rate, and because he could fight for 12 hard rounds, Calzaghe UD12 Dawson.
