Calzaghe would boss it , Ward being the only fighter who gives him a challenge.... Ward v Calzaghe would be good from a technical pov but i see the fight itself being abit boring. i woulda liked to see the inring adjustments theyd both make , see it being a close but clear Calzaghe win 7 - 5 or 8 - 4 stamina and freakish workrate pulling him through
In a earlier post I said liles and nunn beats the brakes off him he beats Collins and I would favour him over benn G mans best punch was the straight right and I beleave he would have forced the ko
He would do well if his stayed in Britain with referees to award stoppages for his flurries of non-connecting arm punches.
Prime calzaghe had a great and unbelievable recovery, Joe would out and out speed gman who was very beatable.
U forgetting joe had a good chin but when u get hit with rocket straight right hands from a fighter who hit p4p as hard as Jackson that heavy weights did not wanna spar him. Unless u are James tony who I think has the best chin in super middle weight history U are going to sleep Oh and no gmann don't beat rjj
I consider Calzaghe one of the greatest Super Middleweight of all time but I dont consider him unbeatable. I'd pick a prime Roy Jones to beat him, and I'd give Toney, Nunn, Benn and Eubank a shot though not as clear cut one as Jones, and prime Hopkins and Ward would, in my opinion, have a very good chance of beating him - I dont think they would but it would be very close - so I have no problems whatsoever with people who want to point out Calzaghe's failings and call him second rate if they want to. Perhaps my wording offended you but I can assure you I did mean it as anything personal. As I said, I am sensitive to that issue, perhaps overly sensitive, but that's just where I stand.
Excellent post MAJR. The Prime Kessler and Prime 175 Hopkins fights showed what Joe was capable of when pushed. And the Ruination of Lacy showed what he was capable of when he felt really threatened. The guy had talent coming out his eardrums The big fault on him is that he seemed so reluctant to test himself Ward and Froch would have brought the best out of Joe - Froch would get Lacy'd. Ward's too good for that, he would have made it closer, but he's just not good enough to beat the Newbridge Assassin over the 12
Sure he would. The same Calzaghe who went life and death with the likes of Reid and got knocked down against Kebabi Salem. Fact is, he would cruise the hell away and only fight cabbies in Wales as he shamelessly claims he's air sick and his paper WBO title should be pursued. Just keep having him dominate, prime RJJ style, in your worthless fantasies.
absolute rubbish.joe was a great fighter.the reason he didnt fight the yanks earlier was because ****** kept matching him with inferior fighters.i have read his book and he wanted hopkins 3 years earlier than he got him.also he would outwork ward who you think is so good but is not.joe would stop him late on as for dirrel? who is he now? nobody as far as i know.
People rate Dirrell way too highly. Only ward is at calzaghe's level in this era. Froch and Kessler are great too but not p4p elite
Ward is too skilled to just out flurry so Calzaghe would not have his 0. of course it would also be a monumental task just to get Joe n the ring with Ward.
