How Would Canelo Alvarez React To The Relentless Pressure of James Kirkland?

Swim. If Kirkland develops any defense it might be a different story but as of now Alvarez catches Kirkland with a counter early, hurts him, and ends the fight. He's just way more skilled than Kirkland and Kirkland has heart and stamina, but not the defense or chin to take Alvarez's counters. The only reason Kirkland pulled out the fight against Angulo is because Angulo pulled a Mike Jones and wildly punched himself out after hurting Kirkland, Alvarez is much more technical and methodical about his work, and is way more likely to catch Kirkland before Kirkland catches him.

I agree with this, but I would not be surprised at all of Kirkland was too relentless early on and stopped him.

That wouldn't surprise me either, just think that the fight boils down to who lands the bomb first and I think Alvarez's odds of doing that are a good bit higher than Kirkland's due to his superior skill.

I think he would fold! He shouldn't fight Kirkland for a year or two.. Canelo needs more experience!

Kirkland has the worst Chin in Boxing today and he is horrible, as well. He has no defense, he can't jab, he just wades in and hooks like a madman. I am not very high on Canelo either because I believe him to be harboring a Glass Jaw along with some suspect defense but he is light years better than Kirkland in both of those categories. He's got a decent jab to keep him at bay and the first cross that landed would shatter Jelly Jaw James' Frangible Mandible into a million pieces. If this fight happens they should have Micky Ward at ringside in his street sweeper to collect all the shards of Glass after the first round.

kirkland can barely absorb jabs, he should be careful or he might just be taken out early by canelo

Alvarez so far has fought happily at his own pace. No-one has made him fight at a pace that he doesn't want to. He has been able to take his time in rounds and wait for his own little bursts (from what I've seen anyway). Kirkland will make him fight at a pace that he maybe doesn't want to. Interesting bout. One Alvarez should take before he even considers a Mayweather bout.

Not very well I suppose. Then again, I could be wrong. We haven't really seen exactly what Canelo is capable of when the battle is not going in his favor. He survived an assault from Jose Miguel Cotto but that doesn't really say much. Jose Miguel Cotto and James Kirkland are 2 different fighters. GBP has really been careful with this kid. Since his stateside debut, he's only been in there with soft touches.

One solid jab and Kirkland would be out of there.
