How Would Canelo Alvarez React To The Relentless Pressure of James Kirkland?

Funny that people say ONE fight w/ Angulo doesn't mean a thing, yet it's ONE fight that everyone is basing a KO of Kirkland on.

Anyone can see Kirkland is not the same fighter w/o Anne Wolfe. And that's based on how he looked before jail, and after.

If Kirkland has ALWAYS had a bad chin, why didn't Joel Julio blast him out? Julio was a heavy hitter.

Same w/ Angulo. Sure he puncherd himself out early in the fight. But he had plenty of time to recover, and DID land solid bombs after. Still nothing.

Hell, Brian Vera is a very good fighter. Certainly someone who can get KO'd by a jab, ans many think will be the xase from now on, sghould have been able to do it as well?

In a fight w/ Kirkland, I think Canelo would need to get him out as early as possible. And sure, that isn't out of the realm of being realistic. But it's not a foregone conclusion that the first punch he lands, it's over.

Canelo hasn't faced anyone who would pressure him like Kirkland. For all anyone knows, he'll punch himself out trying to keep pace, and getting taken out of this comfort zone. That benefits JK. And the more Canelo throws, the more he opens himself to return fire. We've seen JK fight through some adversity. Canelo has not at all.

I'd say it's a 50-50 fight. And if JK made it to the 3rd, then I'd pick him to KO the youngun eventually.

 

Yes, these morons now think that he is an Iron Chinned Warrior due to him winning a fight in which he was wobbled by a jab and put on his ass within thirty seconds of the opening bell.atsch

The only reason he was stopped in the Angulo fight is because Angulo pulled a Mike Jones and went ape**** throwing wild punches. Had he remained composed like Ishida, picked his spots, and Boxed allowing the KO to come naturally it would have. Kirkland's Chin is horrible. One of the worst I have seen in twenty years of following Boxing. Canelo would savagely KO him within three rounds, probably the first. Jelly Jaw James has no Chin. None.

 

Also, prior to the fight, there was a Kirkland-hate surge going on these boards, everyone was predicting el perro to knock him out cold with a jab.

I predicted Kirkland to win, because I knew it was a different animal than the one who lived in Las Vegas.

 

1. Julio is not a puncher at 154. He had no business fighting at that weight.

2. Angulo never recovered. He was breathing like an emphysema patient that had run a marathon after the first round and his shots were labored with no steam on them. He blew a guaranteed KO victory by punching the arms of an opponent who was in a complete defensive shell and waiting to be starched.

3. It is absolute idiocy to think that training with a certain dyke can change one from Glass Jawed Fraud to Iron Chinned Warrior. I am sorry but Mann Wolfe cannot give him anything but better conditioning. It was not a conditioning issue that led to him being sparked out in one by feather fisted Ishida. It was a Chin issue and nothing more. Kirkland had shown plenty of Chin issues previously being dropped by bums and what not.

4. It is an even higher level of idiocy to think that a fight in which a fighter was flattened in thirty seconds is an example of how his Chin is better. If anything it highlighted the fact that Kirkland has the worst Chin in the business and a fighter with higher ring IQ would have demolished him.

Of course. And after Kirkland beat Angulo, there were a myriad of excuses as to why that didn't happen. And from now on, many 'experts' will pick him to get KO'd, and if he doesn't, again come up with an excuse. Wash, rinse, repeat. :dead

I certainly wouldn't be shocked if he fought Alvarez and lost. But I wouldn't be shocked if he KO'd the redhead either.

Kirkland has no chin-I think if he gets hit solid, he'll fall, and when you have someone in front that will take their time, keep composure and is accurate it's a very easy fight-
