Canelo to Hearns is much different than Hagler to Hearns. Canelo is orthodox. And shorter. Hearns knocked out Cuevas, long time champion. and Duran a great who never was stopped. Outboxed Benitez and Hill. Unheard of how great they were. I think Hearns losing to Hagler and Leonard on the big stage hurts his legacy, but he would not be beaten by Canelo too easily. He is not Plant or the other guys Canelo has fought lately. he is better than Jacobs and Lara whom Canelo struggled with...This is a weak era and not a strong division. People have to think beyond a few wins... Study whom he beat. He is the best in that division now, but we are jumping too far to think he can beat greats of that past like he can these guys he has recently .

And I will go on to add:
    Robinson
    McCallum
    Trinidad
    Deloyhoya
    Mosley
    Jackson
    Jones Jr.
    Monzon
    Tiger
    Benitez
If they are in their primes or close to it.
Great possibility of beating him are
    Norris
    Mugabi
    Starling
    Curry
    Sibson
    Lomatta
    Fullmer
    Turpin
    Walker
    Greb
    Basilio
These are fighters off the top of my head.
My 1st group if their are any guarantees in
Boxing, they all would beat him if they are
    Prime or close to it.
The 2nd group he may win a few, but he'd lose more than he'd win prime vs prime .
Canelo is smoke and mirrors. A guady win record supported by the Plants of the world or fighters beyond their primes as well as overrated, like Triple G.
He fought one great fighter, a fighter he was naturally bigger than ( For you size kings out there )
Damn near lost every rd. With all of his advantages of size and strength.
But that's why Mayweather Jr fought him. He knew he wasn't a serious threat. Their were other fighters around at the time Mayweather Jr could've made just as much money fighting, perhaps more.
More dangerous fighters, but he choose Canelo.
    I wonder why?

Because it was the biggest check available other than Pacquiao and Conor McGregor, who also would get served.

Why would you not use the 5+ years younger Duran who fought Hagler? Dude was sharp.

    If you mean at middleweight

    Canelo KO Duran 6
    Canelo KO Hearns 10
    Canelo UD Leonard
    Canelo UD Haggler

    Just too big and strong.

One thing to be said about Canelo is that the guy has been (in this day and age) super busy with 4 fights in under 12 months. He's certainly helping keep boxing going.

All due respect to Canelo but Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Hagler would all mop the floors with him
    Leonard by UD
    Hearns by late TKO
    Duran by UD
    Hagler by late KO

Was he too big and strong for Mayweather Jr. A natural Jr. Lightweight?

You don't know **** about boxing. Marvin Hagler (who won his previous 7 defences via knockout) couldn't knock Duran out , Iran Barkley who moved up to the heavyweight and knocked people out left and right couldn't knock Duran out but Canelo wins against Duran via K.O. Yeah, sure.

I do love how most people in these types of match ups will just resort to 'fighters rehydrate to bigger weights now and so would win' as if we haven't ever seen a lighter fighter win a fight before. Also look at Canelos best wins. He got a gift draw against GGG and many believe he got a gift win the second time around. He easily could have lost to lara too, and when he fought Floyd he wasn't even competitive, getting comprehensively beaten.

He hasn't clearly beaten anyone as good as any of the 4 Kings.

Lmao he got KOd in 2 by Hearns. Come on.

And Haggler would look puny next to Canelo or any of his recent opponents.

Obviously at 23 he wasn’t as strong as he is at 31.

GGG and Jacobs would fit in with them. Lara might.
