I was watching Byrd vs Wlad and I am impressed so far with how he fought like Floyd Vs Conor, loads of great glove control and shooting straight leads to the body I feel he would score a lot of those shots to the body against taller fighters like AJ and Fury, I feel Fury reach would be a real problem for Byrd but whereas Fury mainly spoiled at long range vs Wlad Byrd ws constantly trying to get in to get to the body and landed much more and quicker shots than Fury did vs Wlad, so how do you feel he would have done with these guys today? I feel Byrd would outbox Wilder.

Loses to Joshua, Wilder (jab and power too much), and Povetkin

Close to 50/50 against Pulev, Parker, and Ortiz

    Beats Whyte, Breazeale, and Kownacki

    MIller is a wild card

Byrd vs. Wilder is a brainteaser.

Who did he ever embarass other than an old Holyfield? Wilder would beat him doing a second rate Wlad impersonation.

Ortiz at his best would dominate Byrd but he might be past it now.

I saw a crude blown up cruiser in Szpilka make Wilder look hesistant and mess up his rhythym. I saw him miss club fighter Gavern by a mile by using minimal waste movement. Byrd would embarrass him and he embarrassed several heavies on the way up like Jimmy Thunder and Uriah Grant.
Byrd would be a nightmare for Wilder

Szpilka ended up losing by highlight reel knockout. Wilder did fine against the slick guy he fought too (Scott). Jimmy Thunder was a glorifiied journeyman.

With Byrd, you're talking about a guy who got a draw against Golota and a split decision against McCline. He never outclassed a a talented big man. Wilder should be able to outhustle him if not outright ko him.

Eddie Chambers could've turned in the same career result as Byrd if given those chamces.

How many top 10 guys has Wilder fought??????

Golota and Mccline two guys better than anyone Wilder has ever fought.

No, Stiverne was top 5. I don't think Golota or McCline were ranked at the time they fought Byrd. They came from the same tier as guys like Duhapas and Szpilka at the time when those fights came off. Byrd beat some top ten guys like Fres and Tua, but those guys are irrelevent in style compared to Wilder.

The answer is one top 10 opponent Stiverne.

Byrd defeated far better quality opponents in much fewer fights. Wilder has fought nobody so far and therefore he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt against a crafty southpaw who was proven like Byrd was. I'm not picking Tay when his only attribute is he's tall against Byrd.
    Byrd schools him.

Right, his only attribute is height. There couldn't possibly be something else that separates him from guys like McCline.

So now Wilder is being compared to Mccline? A guy who actually had some decent wins and fought someone like Wlad.
Wilder has one top 10 win.
Byrd fought big men, men with power and held his own against Vitali and lasted the distance with Wlad in his first fight, two guys light years ahead of Wilder. But Wilder beats him lol.
Sorry he hasn't earned benefit of doubt with his resume and his skill level looks awful.
    I'm sticking with Byrd

It's funny to see someone getting nostalgic about an era of heavyweights that was flat other than the top two. Byrd summarily failed against big guys with speed and power in Wilder's league. And he split rounds with the Frankenstein types.

Wilder's league?? lol he's fought 1 top 10 opponent. i don't know I think Byrd defeating guys like Holyfield, Tua, Mccline, Oquendo, and via injury Vitali merits him the benefit of the doubt against someone as unproven and clumsy looking as Wilder. Nothing nostalgic about it. But to each their own.
