How would Deontay Wilder do if he had been based in Europe, where expected to step up?

    Look at how
Now look at how much tougher the European HWs are matched on the way up

Tyson Fury in 22 fights has fought undefeated 16-0 Pajkic, undefeated 14-0 Chisora, undefeated 13-0 Nascimento, undefeated 12-0 Power, Rogan, K Johnson, S Cunningham, McDermott twice and agreed to face D Haye and is fighting Chisora again.

Derek Chisora in 24 fights has fought undefeated 14-0 Fury, undefeated 16-0 Helenius, D Williams, S ***ton twice, V Klitschko, D Haye, undefeated M Scott, Gerber is fighting undefeated Fury again and agreed to face W Klitschko. Thats tough

Look at Robert Helenius first 17 fights where in that time fought L Brewster, A Levin, S Peter, S Liakhovich, D Chisora and undefeated 12-0 G Tony

Pulev has had 20 fights and is facing W Klitcshko next, but look at the fights he had before. In fight #5 he was facing M Skelton, Sprott, 27-0 Ustinov, 32-1 Dimitrenko, T Thompson

Now you have Anthony Joshua, who in 9 fights has fought Skelton, Airich, Bakhtov and is facing Sprott next.

This is just an example of how the HWs in Europe get matched tough early on. Sometimes burning out in the tougher European scene before stepping up.

Now how do you think D Wilder would do if say matched like one of the above?
Wilder has had 32 fights, all wins. The fighter with the best winning record Wilder has fought is D McCreary who was 14-0 and started as a MW.

So how well do you feel Wilder would have done if matched at European level.

If he was from Europe, he'd be hyped as much as Golovkin, that's a fact.

He's only seen as such a joke because he's always compared to Tyson.

We are talking HW, not MW.
I like Wilder and he comes across as a good guy and interviews well. If he was based in Europe, no doubt he would be hyped, but as you can see, he would likely have been stepped up alot sooner. Hes not a joke, he is a big puncher but -

same question, if based in Europe, how do you think he would have done when matched with the opposition in the same amount of fights as the others?

You have to admire fighters like Chambers etc, who have travelled to Europe to broaden their game in a tougher scene

He's a great guy. He just beats up women ( his wife and was arrested), 160 lbs ******s, bums and journeymen, but avoids fighting anyone that could fight back like they have Ebola.

No, he's a joke because he's fought such pathetic competition for so long. :yep

Seriously, I've been following boxing for 35 years. If a boxer is still fighting stiffs five years into their career, there's a reason. It's either that they aren't very good or they have a glass chin - or both.

In Wilder's case, it looks to me like both.

In short to answer the OP. His record wouldn't look as glossy, but he would be a better fighter.

Wilder benefits from the fact that he gets away with fighting bums in the US, since there is absolutely zero capable heavyweights around. Wilder is a US level heavyweight. He couldn't compete in Europe.

He could take the Boytsov path and come close to a title shot without facing dangerous opposition. However, most European prospects have a goal of winning the EBU title between stepping up to the continental level and having a world title shot, so there's a possibility he'd face someone like Pulev at some point and lose before making it to the world title fight.

Of course, any attempt at answering the OP is pure guessing. Some people here in the US think he is the goods, a lot dont. Fact is, there is absolutely no film or evidence to compare him to good fighters with.
Bruce Lee beat up guys who the script dictated should lose. How would he do vs Fury or AJ? That, IMO, is a barely less answerable question...and Bruce Lee is dead.
