If Marvin had faced the above (each in prime), between 1982 - 84? Does he lose a decision at least once? Or go 3-0?
I think McCallum could outbox him to a decision in his favor, but I feel like he'll get to Kalambay and Nunn before the final bell rings. I'm big fans of all of these men, but The Bodysnatcher was the only man slick enough to make it in this case.
Really think all would be nightmare fights for him. They all have decent chins, and make people work for a win over em, taking out Kalambay v Nunn of course.
Good one,Fergy. Thought provoking as always. All would be tough for Marvin but I see him winning them. Hagler catches Nunn and Kalambay by the last three rounds - maybe down on the cards against Michael. Marvelous v The Bodysnatcher would be a Fight of the Year candidate. I envisage Marvin's faster hands edging decision in his favour.
Beats McCallum - maybe? I am positive he gets Nunn and Kalambay might just play keep away LOL I can’t imagine that fight.
Out of the 3 I think Nunn could beat Hagler if it's over 12 rounds, maybe just maybe Nunn could get over the line. But If its 15 rounds then I don't fancy Nunn's chances as much. Kalambay seemed to have a few issues vs Southpaws he lost to Kalule, got poleaxed by Nunn, and should've lost to Grahman in their 2nd fight. So all in all I'd favour Hagler. McCallum vs Hagler would be a very good technical fight but I'd favour Hagler via close decision. I think Hagler's straighter more accurate punches would be the difference.
i think kalambay might have the best chance. he might well got blown out but if he doesn't he can win rounds and make hagler think twice. the other 2 have flaws that mean they aint beating hagler. if fun is the goal hagler vs mccallum is the fight.
I agree with this although I think McCallum is more of a 50/50 fight even though McCallum was a Jr Middleweight. He was huge for 154 and I think he would always be a handful for Hagler. Then again, prime Hagler was a wrecking machine that I wouldn't bet against.
They're some of the most smooth operators there's ever been at Middleweight, but I can't help but feel that Hagler will catch most of them.
Prime Marvin Hagler was the complete fighter and would have been able to beat all 3 of them convincingly, including McCallum. I can see Hagler grinding down Kalambay and Nunn, stopping them late in the fight. McCallum would be very competitive but would still end up getting outworked and lose against Hagler by decision. Now if we're talking about the Hagler that started to slip and was more war-torn after the Hearns fight then he would be ripe for the picking against all 3 of them. The late 80s version of Hagler would more likely lose to them.
