To beat the high guard, you go threw it, under it or around it. The most effective way is to go threw it but if you can create angles and counter punch effectively it can be done. Winky out all of those guys was a master and would give PBF trouble. This is mainly because winky is so much larger, but one thing that pbf does have is a reach equal to Ronald which could negate his size advantage. Also PBf's hand speed could counter the Winkerster as he opens up. tough style to beat but it takes a master to beat a master and it would be a great fight (winky) despite what people might think.

Ward is also probably the best SprMW. AA's tenure shows he was either not ready then for 168, if he ever will be. Big difference with a guy at WW trying to punch through it as opposed to a SprMW like Ward.

Lance, you're still not getting my point. I made no assertion about a WW getting through the turtle shell defense of a SMW. The purpose of my comment was to challenge the TS's statement, which was that you need to be a big puncher to break down a turtle shell. I simply used Ward as an example of a guy who isn't a big puncher, breaking down a turtle shell defense.

Winky would win a wide UD on floyd and make it look easy.

Fat inactive winky gave hopkins a hard time at 170.

Its a bad style match up for floyd but winky is special with the jab, work rate, defense and reach. Winky would becoming forward and he was pretty active, he can pop the jab and block floyds counters.

Clottey would loose because hes too inactive and inconsistent. Floyd would outland him bottom line. Clottey needs to get back in the ring and get his **** together because hes a really good fighter when hes at his best. I thought he beat cotto.

Its a good style if you got a good jab and reach and dont make the mistake of not throwing enough like barker or clottey. If you just cover up inside close and stand there floyd will get you with angles or move your arms with his elbows. Its a good style to trouble floyd but it would take someone remarkable to beat him using it.
